i’ve heard missionaries’ testimonies of miracles, but not of the rc church. someone praying and a room of patients being healed the next day. someone praying and a dead boy rising. etc.
If your still lurking,Saint Theresa Neumann lived over a decade on Holy Communion alone, the Eucharist:)

I was hoping that the poster yqpd would come back, also. He seemed to be implying that no miracles are happening in the Catholic church.

I just checked though, he seems to be suspended.:o

Me too,if he needs more examples I have plenty more I can post:)

Persons manifesting the stigmata-wounds must be seen in this perspective: as literately participating in the sufferings of the crucified Jesus - becoming part of the Mystical Body of Christ - allowing Him to suffer through them. It is thus believed that these individuals are capable of actually reducing the level of suffering in the world by voluntarily acceptance of suffering on their own part.

The German stigmatic Theresa Neumann (1898-1962).
God works them:)
Oh my goodness gracious! Poor woman!!!

What I meant Lisa was like every day stuff. Like I try and pray because my mum has a sore back and I know Jesus can cure her if I have faith enough…And I try and try and try…

:nope:

I guess it’s just not meant to be…But really, she’s had such a tough time and I just think she deserves some happiness in her life, you know what I mean?

Will you say a prayer for her for me please? Her names Tisha.
:blessyou:

My thoughts on miracles are this. You’re not going to see someone able to walk around and perform miracles like Jesus and the apostles.

If so, you’d have plenty of converts to the faith. But why would they convert? Not because of their faith, but because of what they saw. Jesus said, “Thomas, you believed because you saw. Blessed are those who do not see and yet still believe”.

He wants followers whose faiths are Rock-Solid (pardon the pun).

But then why have any miracles? Why have Lourdes and the miracles noted above? Seems a little inconsistant don’t you think?

I will pray for her:) Meanwhile ask her to unite her sufferings to Our Lord for poor souls, that is a huge difference between us and other Christians is that none of our pain need be wasted.Your Mums pain may be doing miracles now and you just don’t know it:)

There are miracles performed all the time. Look at all the recent saints–that’s at least two miracles per saint! Remember, the apostles were all saints. Saintly people tend to have more miracles associated with them than us not-so-saintly folks.😉

that is an absurd comment…completely idiotical to believe that miracles and healings don’t happen. i tell you when people experience and see these miracles they get SAVED!!! they run and tell their families they run and tell their friends…and believe me sir…people do get up and walk…dead are raised, deaf hear, blind see, lame walk…it is happening today…christ said…in my name you shall cast out devils you shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover…greater works shall you do than me…come on…absurd to think that these are not in operation today…i’ve seen them with my own eye…i don’t think you have a strong foundation in scripture yourself to actually believe what you believe…

I have a friend who, many years ago, was suffering from severe depression and was planning her suicide. Her family and friends were unaware of this, as she hid her plans quite well (she wanted to make it look like an accident). She ended up attending a Catholic healing Mass: at one point the priest announced, “There is a young woman here who is planning on taking her own life. She shouldn’t do this because God loves her and He has special things He wants her to do with her life.” After that, she went up to the priest who laid his hands on her, and the desire to commit suicide was gone. Seems like a miracle to me…

Padre Pio is an obvious answer to the question as well.
