They were destroyed because of callousness and abuse to strangers.
Valke2 – what happened to our earlier discussion putting the word “abominable” into its context with respect to the cities of the plain? Clearly, the context puts homosexual practices into the “callousness and abuse” equation.

Heck! You did most of the homework on that one!

It’s the same, old song…

The jury is still out whether or not there is a biological cause for same sex attraction. If one wants to call himself homosexual based on these attractions I see no reason why God would send him to hell.
i made a typo when i said that when i was young i was attracted 2 the opposite sex… I meant the SAME sex… Sorry, i guess i was distracted again…
Anyway, God doesn’t send people to Hell. People send themselves… God gives a person choices all throughout his/her life. He calls to us at every turn. Those who continuously reject him become harder & harder & more entrenched in their sins… to the point where they are virtually beyond the desire to repent… I belive this is called blashphemy of the Holy Ghost, the unforgivable sin - 2 reject forgiveness. We should pray for those people more than any others… Homosexuality (practice of…) is a terrible perversion, though there may be psychological mitigating “circumstances”. Most male gays have had problems in their relationships with their fathers (& 2 a lesser extent, their mothers). In any case… i have this 2 say: It is hard 4 me to refrain from committing certain sins, but that difficulty doesn’t make the sin any less sinful or problematic… Also: If God knows a person is trying, He will not allow that person to go to Hell… (Purgatory, yes, Hell, no). But if a person makes excuse after excuse, doesn’t come 2 God, doesn’t try, tells himself he “can’t help it”, blah blah blah… that’s a different story. God hates sin. You can look at a crucifix & see that…

One of the ways satanic bondage of such aberrations is brought in, is said to be the way many T.V programs that depict animal life and emphasise their sexual behaviors ( who knows if this is a factor among persons , who are watching these programs , thinking of them as less evil than others , esp. among seminarians and such and do not realise where room has been given over to the enemy , and forget to bring it up in confession !).

Scriptures refer to homosexuals as ‘dogs’ ; the prince of this world and the powers he controls have agendas that come hidden in many ways - to glorify the animal nature , make God’s children as less than animals , whch has been the aim of the serpent , since The Garden !

Two reasons.

First up, one of my closest friends is gay. I knew this about fifteen years ago but it was only in the last couple of years that he “came out” so to speak. I’ve recently rekindled my interest in going back to church and I’m concerned that he might think I’m putting on a red armband and jackboots.

I was never very big on the judgement of others, but some people (no-names mentioned but you’ll spot them quick) are quite keen on the idea that a lack of condemnation is tantamount to condoning it. I’m seeking a moderate stance without chucking rocks.

Right, on with the question. Leviticus being a good starting place for a list of what is considered sinful, why is it that some hell-worthy trespasses are now acceptable every day occurances (I was going to do a list, but I’d be surprised if it was really required) and yet homosexuality is still held in the contempt it receives?

Is this not simple picking and choosing?
I’ve been looking for this one specific article on the internet for the last 30 minutes. I have found two that you might find helpful.
  1. If you want to say homosexuality is wrong based on the O.T. laws, then you must still uphold all of the laws in Leviticus and Deuteronomy.
Code:
The Old Testament laws are categorized in three groups: the civil, the priestly, and the moral. The civil laws must be understood in the context of a theocracy. Though the Jewish nation in the Old Testament was often headed by a king, it was a theocratic system with the Scriptures as a guide to the nation. Those laws that fall under this category are not applicable today because we are not under a theocracy.
The priestly laws dealing with the Levitical and Aaronic priesthoods, were representative of the future and true High Priest Jesus who offered Himself as a sacrifice on the cross. Since Jesus fulfilled the priestly laws, they are no longer necessary to be followed and are not now applicable.
The moral laws, on the other hand, are not abolished. Because the moral laws are based upon the character of God. Since God's holy character does not change, the moral laws do not change either. Therefore, the moral laws are still in effect.
In the New Testament we do not see a reestablishment of the civil or priestly laws. But we do see a reestablishment of the moral law. This is why we see New Testament condemnation of homosexuality as a sin but not with the associated death penalty.

Hope that helps with the question you originally asked!
