trees are one giraffe neck taller than bushes. in the picture on the right you can also see some other trees/bushes behind.
I agree with deb1.
What is your evidence for stating that the top of all bushes are lower than the lowest branches of all trees, and please don’t say the two photos are evidence. Give us hard scientific evidence to support your claim.

I am not trying to be arguementative, I promise. One thing that I love to do is watch all those documentaries on animals. (I am boring what can I say) Anyway I am certain that I have seen zebras, on those documentaries, eating the leaves off of the lower branches on the trees. So, it makes sense that not all trees are the same height in Africa.
If you’re offering arguments then you’re argumentive. I have to force you to show evidence where there’re giraffes trees are shorter than bushes. otherwise others can take up this argument and continue.

If you don’t want to be argumentive, you should pm me or any other participants

See the picture? not? you’re dismissing scientific evidence shown to you.

Or deny evolution totally by stating “successful species(namely bacteria virus ameba) don’t evolve”
Bacteria is a domain and ameba is a genus…they’re not species.
(not that species has a clear meaning when dealing with things that reproduce asexually but that is another matter)

Individual strains/species evolve not higher classifications.

You really ought to read up on this stuff before you post.

In all charity what exactly are you trying to say with your posts?

Are you suggesting, based on the article you linked to, that Stephen J. Gould did not accept evolution? Do you know why SJG argued the way he did?

Peace

Why let facts get in the way of a good fairy tale?😉

He wants to prove that anyone who accepts the vast amount of evidence for evolution are godless athiests who threaten the Church. That and he is much smarter than any scientist (unless that scientist agrees with him, in which case, it isn’t a real scientist).

Once again, you show the extent of your understanding of science!

what do you mean by “follow suit”? Neck obviously extended unproportionally faster than legs.
Actually, no. The poor suckers are still most vulnerable when they drink. They have to spread their legs quite far apart, because their necks are still trying to “catch up” with their legs.

abcdefg:
Why giraffes there can’t develop longer necks? the neck length gene is fixed and can’t change?
But of course they can, they are just lagging (maybe legging, haha) a little bit behind. Moreover, they are nature’s attempt to build the Tower of Babel, and soon (in about 15.7 million years, give or take a few millions) they will reach heaven. Then we can all climb up on their necks and verify everything for ourselves. How wonderful it will be!

Hey guys,

Mockery isn’t needed here. If you cannot refute it nicely (both sides) why not wait to respond until you can? This argument will still be here when you get back. 😛

I never said that trees are shorter then bushes, just that there is probably an overlap in tall bushes and short trees.

This is a good idea. I am not certain why this particular subject incites such anger. Afterall, none of our faiths would be destroyed if our particular viewpoint turned out to be incorrect would it?

😃 Nope.

But the apologetics forum is pretty vigorous. Many who are not living the faith come here to seek. It’s a good place to practice being a lamp on a hill. It’s sometimes frustrating trying to communicate viewpoints so divergent.

Personally, i regard evolution as contrary to the Catholic faith.

But then again, I know nothing.

Evolution is a life starter without God,imho.

abcdefg, please, come on. There are MILLIONS of types or plants/trees/bushes at millions of different heights. That is definitely NOT a sound argument against evolution.

Now, if an evolutionist would like to explain how sex came about, I would be very interested in the response, but giraffes? Even if we had trees/bushes at set heights. They still have to GROW from a seed, young trees would provide the middle foliage needed for a giraffe in the middle stage of evolution (im not saying that makes evolution true though, 🙂 ).

In Christ

Andre.

Even if the lowest leaves on every tree on the savannah were significantly higher than the highest leaves on every bush on the savannah… that would not be a good point in the argument against the evolution of giraffes. Simply put: most of the evolution of giraffes happened a long time ago, over a long period of time… so perhaps it might be a good idea to examine conditions then… and perhaps we might realize that as giraffes get taller and eat more trees, trees get taller and avoid more giraffes…

…Now, if an evolutionist would like to explain how sex came about, …
Now the questioin of sex is a real good one (besides the obvious reasons)

Obviously you lose 1/2 of your genetic material so for the individual it is a looser but, since evolution is about populations and not abut individuals that doesn’t matter as much

I remember reading some real good articles a few years back on the theories on the origins of sexual reproduction. It was way over my head but there are strong theories on it

cause the zebras ate all the lower branches…
