Why go to a Church or a chapel of Adoration to worship Jesus?

Some may ask what is the difference of worshiping Jesus in the privacy of their own home or car as opposed to coming to worship Jesus in Adoration? What is the difference of Jesus present in Holy Scripture or in the midst where two or three gather in His name for prayer? What makes the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist any different then His presence in the people of God gathered for Mass?

I will try to address the difference.

We worship and Adore Jesus who is truly and substantially present in the Holy Eucharist. The Eucharist is nothing less than the Body Blood Soul and Divinity of our Risen Lord Jesus. Jesus in his Divinity or simply Jesus as our God is everywhere since God has no limits of where he exists. Jesus as God is specially present in the proclamation of the Holy Scriptures or where Two or three gather in his name. He is present through the people of God especially at Mass. But nowhere is Jesus present with his Risen Body, Blood & Soul other than in Heaven and under the Sacramental Veil of the Blessed Eucharist.

This is why the Eucharist is a presence above all others because here we have our Lord Jesus present in his Body and Blood and Soul along with his Divinity just as he is in heaven. This is why the Blessed Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic Faith because it is nothing less than the whole risen Lord Jesus.

The Eucharist goes way beyond the spiritual presence of God in His Word in Holy Scripture, in the people gathered in prayer, etc… because the Eucharist makes Jesus’ Risen Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity present, hence why we call the Eucharist the Real Presence, not to say that Jesus present in the Holy Scripture or among the people in prayer is not important but rather to express the fact that no where else but in Heaven and in the Eucharist is Jesus present substantially with his Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. The only difference being the way we see him.

Here on earth our mortal eyes see a host of what looks like unleavened bread, but our eyes of Faith see and recognize Jesus our Risen Lord Truly present under the appearance of Bread. It is a tremendous gift of Faith and an awesome gift to know Jesus in the Blessed Eucharist. Let us all pray for this gift of faith.

Amen. I think its always helpful to have something physical to focus on especially during prolonged praying. I can pray for much longer in church than I can at home because I can focus on the Blessed Sacrament, or the Lord on the cross, or a statute of Mary or a saint. Adoration is great, especially when it follows or proceeds Mass. :gopray2:

It is amazing that the same person talking from the boat on the sea of Gallilee is right there. The one whom Mary, the sister to Martha, sat at his feet, the very same person is available for us to sit with also.

Why? Because you can leave the world behind you when the chapel doors close and be at Jesus’ feet. It’s to be able to walk out those doors and be able to deal with ‘outside’.

Yes and enjoy being with him in silence and peace.

I find in the silence that He answers my prayers, opens my eyes to things I have questions to. I just love when the morning sun rises enough to spill into the chapel through the stained glass windows, its as if Jesus fills it. But then again, He is on the altar, filling the room and those present.

I’ve often felt that way myself.

There was a spiritual author who said that many today envied those who were in Gallilee with Jesus. But we should be even more joyous that each of us has access to the person of Jesus in the Eucharist any time we wish by visiting him in the Blessed Sacrament.

Peace be with you Fred Conty.

We go to a Church/Chapel to Celebrate what Jesus taught his apostles and, in passing down, to us to do. While it is true that He prayed alone, it is also true that He prayed with his followers, the most famous being the Last Supper. It is here that He said “Do this in memory of me”.

We, Christians and Catholics and at large the world, are a community, a family. While it is good to seek solitude, silence and solace to search for Our Lord, it is also important to join our family to celebrate the sacraments and other community prayers together.

Could you imagine, if I, being part of a large family celebration, decided to have my meal alone in my room? I would cut myself off from the family as well as, and more important, deprived my family of a member.

Join us in the church or chapel, Fred, deprive us NOT of a valuable family member. Let it be a feast, celebration or even in silent prayer. Let us enjoy the company of the Lord, alongside each other.

Dominus vobiscum.

Amen! Thank you Fred for your inspiring words as My wife and I head out this first Friday for our hour of Adoration with Our Lord and Savior!

So many people are doing Adoration with Our Lord. It is so inspiring to know he has never left us. Thank you for your comment.
