Why God has footsteps in Gen 3?

8 When they heard the sound of the Lord God walking about in the garden at the breezy time of the day,[c] the man and his wife hid themselves from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 The Lord God then called to the man and asked him: Where are you? 10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden; but I was afraid, because I was naked, so I hid.”

If God has no physical body, why.
Did God chose to play a sound of footsteps of God anyway?
 
God can manifest himself however He wants. As for the question of why He would allow Adam and Eve to hear Him walking in the Garden, I always understood it as a second chance. God knew Adam and Eve had ate the fruit, maybe He was hoping they would go to Him and confess their sin before He directly confronted them about it.
 
Genesis does not have to be taken literally. He’s being described in a way we can understand

I wonder what in the passage makes you believe that the author is intending this to be understood metaphorically? Throughout the OT God reveals himself in different ways, to include in his physical presence (walking with Adam in the Garden of Eden, eating with Abraham as he goes to view Sodom, meeting with Moses in the burning bush, appearing to Moses on Mount Sinai, the cloud above the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant, appearing to Elijah, etc.). Each of these incidents was described in narrative prose, not poetical language. This was supremely revealed in the incarnation of Christ so that our sin might be atoned for. Think about it.

I agree that Abraham, Moses, etc. are not described in poetic language. However, Genesis, in the original Hebrew, is structured as a poem.

I’m not getting into the debate again, about whether or not the creation account is literal, but I will point out that there is evidence for it being poetic allegory. There’s been a lot of research done in Biblical genre which supports this conclusion.

Either way, literal or not, there are many possible answers, none of which are problematic.
 
What also blows my mind are parts of the Bible which state information about god’s soul and in Psalm 91, we are protected under his “wings”

There may be viable explanations but it’s fun to think deeply into how much we don’t know and our similarities alike.

The catechism teaches that the story of the “fall of man” is told in figurative language. So, it’s teaching truth through the lens of a story. In this particular story, God walks around like humans do. It’s just figurative speech.
