If the catholic church is correct in it’s teachings and it’s god is the real one and exists, why are world leaders and our universities not investigating the potential of assistance in the world’s problems, via communication or advice from god.

Because the earth has grown so far from Him. God also gave is the free will to tend to our own affairs to some extent and use the free will He gave us for Good. Modern colleges and universities were started by Christians in europe, God desires that we serve him through our actions. I guess I’m not sure what you are asking.

Because God doesn’t often communicate by means of phone calls or regular direct signs from above, and nobody in the Church claims that they have that power.

What we have is revealed truth in the Gospels and in the authority of the Church laid down by Christ and grown through good and holy tradition. The Church is able to interpret through its doctrine and its holy tradition what is necessary or not necessary to do.

When God does communicate, it’s via the Holy Spirit, and it’s often the almost imperceptible small voice that whispers to one through one’s informed conscience.

If anything, your proposition strays close to the proscription of putting God to the test…

Are you trying to figure out if the Church seeks advice from God or why world leaders don’t seek advice from God? Your thread title asks one thing, your comment asks another.

If god exists, then he would be a great resource for advice, suggestions, knowledge etc,.
Why is no university or government sponsoring a programme to get communication with god established. We spend billions on space and other programmes surely this would be more vauable for the good of humanity.

The church would be involved

A phone-line of sorts to Heaven to sort out the world’s problems would be problematic for several reason, but let me state three:
  1. Unless every single person had access to this connection, it would be written off as a hoax regardless.
  2. If everyone had a link to God, the Universe would become a haunted house. People would feel coerced into following God, not out of love, but because they feel they have to. If God is more hidden, people have the choice of not seeking God or His answers, and thus, doesn’t feel coerced into a relationship.
  3. It assumes that all of these problems are supposed to be fixed. I do not find this feasible. First, it would most likely end up that people would lose their free-will since our choices often contribute to the world’s problems. Also, pain and suffering, in many instances, brings people closer to God, which is God’s ultimate goal. He did not promise happy and easy lives. Imagine if everything was hunky-dory and people didn’t feel the need to rely on God anymore. We would fall away from Him and His love, most likely, and that most certainly is a big problem.

Secular humanism was rammed through academia during the 20th century, meaning nobody would actually take this seriously. On that note, I cannot really blame them, since most theologians would find is pointless as well.

God does not communicate directly to man, only through our minds and hearts. Since God is a spiritual being, it is impossible to communicate with Him via physical means.

Now, aprilfloyd, please don’t start trolling the people in the Social Justice forum. You already give us enough trouble in the Apologetics forum as it is.

How do you know it’s impossible, surely it would be worth a try, think of all the killing that could be stopped. Why is no organisation trying it

Because for this plan to work god would need to reside in the physical world. He does not.

I already answered your question. God is spiritual, we are physical.

The only way to talk to God is through prayer, and he does indeed answer our prayers, though not always in the way we expect.

Not only that. But God DID come to earth to speak to us once, And to prove his divinity. Despite all the signs and good advice he gave, many people refused to listen.

He already tried talking to us, and he got 1.2 billions followers from it. So why does he need to try again?

He already tried showing his divinity, and they put him to death. Why SHOULD he try to prove himself once more?

How do you know it’s impossible,
Just plain logic tells us this, april.

God already came 2000 years ago in the flesh, and the majority of people who communicated with him directly did not believe him.

:sad_yes:

haha! Great minds think alike, eh?

The vast majority of them DO communicate with and seek advice and assistance from God - it’s called prayer. Most of our world leaders and university professors are religious and do so on a daily basis.

Humankind has been ‘investigating’ prayer since the dawn of time - most who have tried it seem to be satisfied that it works, otherwise they would stop 🙂

This might have worked had technology been this advanced at the time Jesus lived on earth, however, that is not the case. So pray! 😉

He has spoken, we’re not listening. Love God with all your mind, heart and soul. And do unto others as you would want done to you. It’s really very simple. He leave’s it to you to complicate it. Watch.

In the end, we ask gods advice every single day. Many people just choose not to listen. Because it isn’t a sweeping government program you either don’t notice or choose not to notice the results.
