Why hasn't Jesus come back yet?

I know no man knows the day nor the hour when Christ will return. But it’s been almost 2,000 years since the death and resurrection of our Lord. I have a strong faith in Christ, I do. But sometimes I do get doubts because of things like these. I hope and pray Christ returns soon. Perhaps he will. Or perhaps we will have to wait another 2,000 years…
I think it’s because God wants to give every person possible a chance for salvation, and thank God for it. Had Christ come 3 years ago, I’d have been destined for hell for certain. I converted to Catholicism 2 years ago, and the Holy Spirit has been at work in me changing my life. I thank God for drawing me to the Church and the Sacaments, and I think that is probably what He is at work doing in every life- drawing them to Christ.

If you had friends who acted like we humans do, would you visit them? WE need to clean up our act first!

Ive heard this theory before but I do not agree with it, if that is true, then the second coming will never happen, plenty of new people being born all the time.

If you look at world events, and compare it to what the bible says will happen, its pretty clear we are getting close, and I know NO ONE can know the exact day and hour, but one can definitely tell what time frame we are in (biblical sense anyway) certain events must happen and transpire for other things to take place, which will lead to the second coming, we are steaming full bore, right on track imo.

To your first point, God is omniscient. He knows who will and who will not accept Christ. So when Christ comes, if there are some people left who would have accepted Christ had they heard of Him, I believe God will be merciful to them. God is Just.

To your second point- I can only imagine that there have been many times in history where people were absolutely certain that it was the End Times. WWI and WWII for certain. Obviously we’re moving towards it, because it hasn’t happened yet, but anytime someone tells me we must be close I always figure people must have thought that at many points in history when things were horrible. Perhaps we are close, and perhaps it’ll be another 1000 years.

[in response to the theory “God is giving people time to repent”:] Ive heard this theory before but I do not agree with it, if that is true, then the second coming will never happen, plenty of new people being born all the time.
I think you’ve neglected to consider the political landscape: Religion is declining, I think universally, even though there are localized upswings. Morality is worsening with each generation. My point: I think conditions will continue worsening until it is impossible for any new person to come to faith, where faith will appear unreasonable due to the degree of evil or suffering. The window of Christian faith is thereby coming to a close as the “fuel” for conversion is running out due to the evil that men do.

I wonder if I’m being clear. You would be correct if society wasn’t changing in a particular direction; some seem to think “society is like a pendulum, always swinging back and forth”. I disagree. I think an overall analysis shows a trend away from spirituality to materialism, from gods to atheism.

So as I wrote:
Jesus will return when the last saint has been born and when the last person who will repent has done so.
Of course this assumes an anthrocentric perspective. If there are other cosmic things going on with beings elsewhere in the universe, the end might not really have anything to do with how many of us there are, since man is ultimately one spiritual entity in Christ.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh the Parousia. I wonder if I’ll be doing laundry as usual:). Jesus Christ take me!!
Well Jesus Christ COME first. You know what I mean. Jesus. Kisses for you.
