Why hasn't Sanjaya been booted off of American Idol yet?

So who goes home?

You know I wouldn’t be surpised if one of the truly good ones go home as there is always a surpise…I think some think the good ones are safe and put off voting for them.

I voted for Jordin and hope she goes further…I don’t think she’ll win but shes too good to go home yet.

I think they’re all very pleasant, but I hope that the rather pretty girl–not one of the African-Americans, but the beautiful one who wore the hot pants and hed the long legs–goes home. She doesn’t have a lot of range or volume. She’s very pleasant, as I said, but just doesn’t seem to be as good a singer as the others.

I also don’t especially think that the guy with the crew cut is that good. I do like the bald guy who’s wife just had a baby.

But again, I’m not really dead set against anyone just yet. I think they’re all good. I agree either Melinda or Lakisha are the two top singers, and I would bear their CDs. I hope they do a Gospel night, because I would love to see both of them, along with Jordan, sing this style of music. I think it would be worth taping and enjoying over and over.

I think the big three are LaKisha, Melinda and Jordin. All three were right on last night. Melinda made a great choice with that standard, and Jordin’s maturity and depth amazed me.

Of the boys, I like Chris Sligh. He’s the big guy with curly hair. I really liked what he did last night with She’s Not There. Blake (beat box boy) was very good last night. His unique style worked with the song he did…usually it doesn’t and just comes across goofy. Sanjaya is abysmal. I’d like to see him out of his misery tonight.

However, I think it could be Stephani…I think that’s her name. Very short hair, sang You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me. I don’t think she’s bad, but there seems to be a momentum against her. I think the criticisms of her have been harsh, and I think that’s going to influence the voting.

The long legged girl in shorts is Haley. They guy who just had a baby (well, his wife) with the bug out eyes is Phil.

The cancer patient needs to go … keep Sanjaya – he’s fun to have around.

out of curiosity I dial all the numbers a couple times to see which ones I get busy tones for and which ones I do not. This gives me an idea of who will be voted of next. Sanjaya got a busy tone so I think he is safe. I think Phil is in danger but since I didnt get a busy tone for him I guess my one vote helps him out.

Cool - you have more of an inside-track than the accounting firm counting the votes!

Personally, I feel it’s going to be either Phil or Stephanie. Stephanie has an outstanding talent, but I think she’s starting to lose her gusto. Phil - poor song choices.

My favorite last night was Blake - coz he did such an amazing job with that song! It’s actually one of my favorite songs from the 60’s - and Blake did not disappoint!

I do not like reality shows. To me they are a complete waste of air time.

However, I think I’ll start watching Idol and vote for Sanjaya and pray he wins. Then maybe it will wake up some people.

Then again, the viewing audiences have had their hearing twisted by the garbage fed thru the airwaves forced upon us by the major recording labels.
Pro Tools for the win! Take that cat running on a piano and make it Mozart!

Sorry to derail the thread! It’s kind of languishing anyway as we wait for Tuesday night.

May I make a request that this thread be used merely as a discussion about American Idol, and not as a debate as to whether American Idol is worthwhile or not? I’m recovering from surgery here, and to be honest, after spending 24 hours a day in the house, mainly in bed, with my foot elevated and iced, and knowing that I’m going to have to do this for 15 more weeks–I really don’t CARE if American Idol is worthwhile! It sure brightens my week! And yes, I do a lot of praying and meditating upon the Lord while I’m lying in bed, too, so I don’t feel guilty spending a few hours watching talented young people sing.

Many of us like AI. I watch and have voted…I voted for Jordin…she probably won’t win but I want her to go further.

I’m actually going to keep on voting for Sanjaya now that I think about it. As long as he is in it makes the competition easier for who I really want to win. I also think its funny when Simon makes fun of him.

Sanjaya’s hair alone was worth watching last night! I think underneath he has a nice enough voice, but there’s no oomph to get it out of him. Half the time I can’t hear him.

Cat, hope you foot’s getting better. I watched soaps for 6 weeks while my knee healed. I was pretty hooked on Port Charles, dumb as it was. Vampires, Avatars, Witches…what a riot.

I love the show. My personal favorites are LaKisha, Melinda and Big Chris. On talent, Melinda’s the top, but I’d love to see LaKisha win. Those two are great. Jordin too. She’s only 17! I didn’t like her outfit or song last night, but I’ll admit she did a great job on the number. Last week she was amazing with I Who Have Nothing.
