Why hasn't Sanjaya been booted off of American Idol yet?

Be careful posting that before everyone has watched the show. It didn’t ruin it for me but it might have if I looked at this thread earlier.

I missed it last night, but I heard the sad news on the radio. They also said Sanjaya was not near the bottom in votes, but about #4. I don’t know where they get that information, but that’s what they said. Well, I liked Chris and was hoping to hear some Meatloaf out of him in the next few weeks.

Aww come on now…how do I know when you watch?

So what did you think of Chris going home? He was pretty good.

I liked Chris, too, and I think he will find work in the music business. He has a great “backup” voice, and I think he’ll be picked up for voiceovers, possibly more.

But he was always flat on his high notes. So it’s probably for the best that he left, although I think there are others in the group who sing worse than him.

The Sanjaya thing is amazing! I think there is some kind of momentum building. I honestly think this might be a publicity stunt by American Idol. They are creating this controversy, allowing him to remain on the show, and lots of people are tuning in to check him out and see how the controversy is resolved.

I do like Sanjaya, though. I don’t think he’s the best singer, but a lot of teen idols through the years have had minimum singing talent. (e.g., Brittany Spears). He is a beautiful boy and I think he would be a great teenybopper idol.

I’ve been cruising around the votefortheworst.com website.

OH MY!

I have not laughed so hard in a loooong time!

Some people need to realize that American Idol is not a competition show.

I will do what I can to see Sanjaya stay in the show.

But be warned, the VFTW website is not a place for children or people with thin skins

Use common sense. You live on the East Coast and there are 4 time zones in the continental United States which means there will be people still watching the show for the next 3 hours. I don’t know what time they broadcast the show in Alaska or Hawaii but I don’t think anyone is from that area on here anyways but in any case, it is just best to wait until late that night or the next day to talk about the results.

Excuse me, common sense? Perhaps you could avoid reading until the next day:rolleyes: oh well, I was excited and posted …not a big deal really. I tell you what…I just won’t post anymore on this thread…that way I won’t ruin it for anyone.🤷

How about anything that might spoil something you mark

SPOILER

I honestly didn’t even think of it being a ‘spoiler’ …I was just …I don’t know…for one thing surpised that Sanjaya didn’t get voted off.

For me, if the 'tables were turned and someone told me I’d probably like the ‘heads up’…oh well, no problem:)

I don’t watch AI, but I did see this Sanjaya guy on a newsclip.
Does anyone else think he looks like the guy/girl in The Crying Game?

The simplest thing to do would be for you not to log on to this thread until after you have had a chance to watch it. That, too, is common sense.

There aren’t any potential superstars on idol this year. So Sanjaya all the way!

I think there are a lot of people who call in and vote for Sanjaya for the fun of it. He may well win b/c of this. Doesn’t seem fair to the other contestants though, if that is the reason they are calling in.

I honestly don’t think Sanjaya is a bad singer. Go back and listen to his orginal audition. He doesn’t have a big voice like Melinda or Lakisha, he doesn’t do that sound effect stuff like Blake.

But he has a very nice quality voice. Apparently he’s been training to sing since he was young (both he and his sister). Their dad has payed for this, so it’s not just the kids singing along with the radio. They have been trained.

I think at the moment the voice isn’t working for him because he’s singing pop/rock, and he’s just not very good at that. I will be interested in seeing how he sounds doing Tony Bennett (sigh, drool-- the coolest man alive!). I realize that the contest is for a pop/rock singer, but Carrie Underwood wasn’t pop/rock, and she won. Fantasia was more rhythm and blues, and she won. And Taylor Hicks was definitely more rhythm and blues, not pop. and he won (yay!). So I think there’s room for a teenybopper singer.
