she is right, that is very much against christian teaching. i hope you are open to learning why…
It’s against Christian teachings to put the blame of rape where it belongs? … on the man who commits the crime? I don’t think so.
funny, my friends said the same thing to me when i was blogging about modest dress, “move to the east!” they said. it’s no coincidence that the strongest parishes with the strongest family values and devout catholic families are those that are on the traditional side. they dress modestly with dresses and veils, and i find that 100x more beautiful than our western style of immodest dress. it first makes you look at their eyes and face, followed by the person inside, instead of their figure like the media has trained us to do and think it’s ok.
again we pray you someday see the humility in the teachings of Christ, which span every part of our lives, including dress.
The beauty of our laws is that you can dress as modest as you please. No one will force you to dress one way or the other. So your modest dress will is not forced on your but instead a true statement of your beliefs.
The abaya worn by Muslim women is a baggy over coat. The hijab is the scarf. Underneath many Muslim women wear short, tank tops, mini skirts, etc. At home and in ‘safe’ places they remove the abaya. Forcing someone to wear the abaya in public does not mean that they are modest or humble…. It only means that they are afraid to not follow the law that says they have to wear it.
The number of yards of cloth a person wears does not ensure their piety nor their humility.

I do dress modestly.
I dont go around wearing short skirts and tops that allow my… assets to hang all over the place for the world to see.
My point is, everyone has their own definition of modesty.
Living, culture, interpretation all play a part in what we consider modest.
For example, in sydney on a 40 degree day (110 fh) at the beach, im not for one second going to wear a long skirt and long sleeve shirt. I wear what i find appropriate, which is a one piece.
I personally wouldnt wear a thong or anything that revealling.
I find that a bit too much, but im not going to judge people with what they want to wear.

the burcume (as in costume)
and for the men who feel they are showing to much of themselves
bureedos (speedo’s) (think borat in green cossie) :hypno:

Hi
First please mention the definition of a ProphetMessenger, ChosenOne of GodAllahYHWH and characteristics from the OTBible? That would be a principled approach, please don’t hesitate.
Thanks
I am an Ahmadi – a peaceful faith in Islam bridging gaps between faiths/denominations/religions/agnostics
I couldn’t just mention Jesus as a prophet, that wouldn’t do justice to who He is, which is God in the flesh.
And I asked you the question first, so the onus is on you, not me. Since you say Mohammed is a prophet then what Old Testament verses did he fulfill?

  1. Christianity is the completion of Judaism as promised throught the ages to the the chosen people through the patriarchs and prophets. Therefore one can trace an unbroken line of continuity from the Garden of Eden to today. Islam was created 600 years after Christianity and 5000 yeas after Judaism, by a merchant’s son who picked up Judeo-christian ideas and added his own spin to it. Thats man made.
  2. The Holy Scriptures are not vague. The Trinity is most obvious throughout either by being foreshadowed or alluded to. Jesus was humble and did not make people worship him, but he allowed them to realize it throught the intervention of the Holy Spirirt and allowed them to worship him and equate him with God the Father.
3.We have guilt by association. Therefore Original Sin is different from our personal sins which we freely choose to do.
  1. God is not helpless and unforgiving, he is Holy and Just. He obviously forgave Adam and Eve, but that doesn’t mean that punishment/repercussions for the sin they made aren’t due.
  2. There are no contradictions in Scripture only contradictions in peoples’, personal interpretation of it, ignorance of it, and understanding of it. Thats why God gives us His Holy Spirit in the Magesterium to provide us with its true meaning, and why we have Holy Tradition.

  1. First, I would be careful not to put God in a box. He always deals justly and we cannot say for sure what happens to babies who die, the mentally challenged and people who’ve never heard the Gospel. Certainly God could bring them into his kingdom as exceptions as he is wont to do, and for the others there is Purgatory where they learn of God’s love for them before being brought into paradise. The scriptures tell us that the servant who knows better will be beaten severly, but the one who does not will be beaten lightly. I beleive Islam has a similar concept of purgatory, but that you’ll only get to heaven if you are muslim. A ggod Christian or Jew can never enter paradise, bu a murderous cheat of a muslim eventually can just cause he in the club. Huh? This I assume has to do with the difference in your interpretation of God, who we see as always the same and just and Holy, you see him as so powerful he can change at will and if you didn’t get the memo too bad.
  2. Do you tell your children the explicit details and reason for every rule you lay down. I mean if you say, “Don’'t touch.” do you explain why to a newborn or a toddler? No you don’t. You spank them or put them into the corner. Because otherwise, we hard headed humans will never learn.
  3. Baptism removes the stain of original sin and the Blood of Christ is enough to sactify us eternally, but one problem, we are imperfect therfore continue to sin, therefore we can chose by our own actions to separate ourselves from God even after the fact if we do not repent.
  4. Most arguments concerning the Trinity are merely arguments over sematics. True our limited understanding is the result of human frailty. Thats why its a mystery. Its like this. God is one. As you know though he is omnipotent, omnipresnt, and omniscient. If you can say he is so powerful as to be able to even contradict himself (which we don’t believe) because he is all Holy and cannot be contained,(which we do believe) then you should not have any problem in understanding that he took on the form of man in Jesus, and gives us his Holy Spirit to live in us after Baptism. Jesus said for his disciples to be one as he and his Father are one. As a human he admitted to being God, but as an example of humility he gave homage to his form as Yahweh. He also told his apostles God would send them another, then breathed the Holy Spirit on them, thus proving that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. One God, three distict persons. Whats so hard about that?
  5. Most of the laws of the Old Testament were to be spiritually symbolic. In the Acts of the Apostles most of them, like the dietary laws, were done away with for the Gentiles. The law was meant to show people how to be Holy in and out, but also showed them without God’s grace they could never completely abide by them, thus were doomed. . Thus they needed atonement by sacrifice, but the sacrifice of animals was temporary and imperfect. The sacrifce of Jesus was perfect and eternal, so long as we do not separate ourselve by more mortal sins. You see God loves us that’s why he became man and put himself up as a sacrifce for us. Because he loves us that much , that he would lower himself teporarily to save us, and because only God is holy enough to sactify us. No ourselve through the keeping of the law and certainly not animals sacrificed for us on our behalf. Paying so mch attention to to keeping the letter of the law instead of the spirit of it is obtuse and dangerous. Speaking of the law Jesus told the Temple priest, “…you strain at a gnat and swallow a camel.”
11., 12., and 13. As Christians why should we apologize for our faith, or be tolerant of non-truth? That doesn’t mean we have to be ugly and hateful and harm others, but correct them in charity. Still though we must stand our ground and not compromise merely to make people feel good about themselves or refrain from hurting feelings. Jesus said he came to cause division between those who accepted him and those who do not. We may be intolerant, and there is no shortage of people who call themselves Christian, but don’t paractice it in truth and love, but we don’t often cut off heads and blow up innocents either.

Oh and most of our traditions are directly inherited from Judaism…
