Wow. The best article in a long time on the subject. Kudos to the author and the logical and straightforward way she addresses the topic.

Good for her!

Excellent article I did not realize how ignorant some people can be with some of the ignorant questions asked when you don’t take contraceptives and want to obey Church Law, at least your not being asked to say prayers for single women who are pregnant and know they should not be having pre marital sex, its lack of knowing what the Church teaches, love the sinner not the sin, how can one ask for prayers for someone who committed sin and is not repentant.

…so that she’ll have the grace of repentance and the grace to be a good mother? Perhaps I misunderstand what you’re saying, but prayers are never wasted.

Great article, although I don’t necessarily agree with the notion that a contraceptive-free lifestyle is stressful. My wife and I abandoned contraception years ago. We finally decided to take an NFP class so we could start thinking about spacing or avoiding further pregnancies. Once we knew the rules and saw what it would take (for us) to follow them, we decided we felt better just putting it all in God’s hands. We now have less stress in that area of our marriage than we’ve ever had. And I mean between us, of course. We still have plenty of people who feel it’s their business to pry and criticize our decisions, even though we don’t respond to any of their prying.

thanks for posting… loved the answer to if she wants 15 kids: “god willing. also, no.” haha

Really good article. She and her husband have come to the contraceptive free life with all their heart and a genuine understanding of not just how it serves their lives, but how it serves their faith and faith in God overall.

My little gripe is that I wish converts wouldn’t refer to us a ‘Roman’ Catholics. We are all Catholic and that’s the point of the word. Roman Catholic is an oxymoron.

Actually, not quite true. Have you never heard of Eastern Catholics? Look on the list of forums.

It is not an oxymoron. What it is is incomplete. under the umbrella of the Pope are many “rites” Roman being the largest. But in the US “Roman Catholic” can be used by the protestant world as a derogatory term. So, I do agree that I wish people did not use that term. Catholic will do just fine.

Isn’t it nice to have an article on ABC, NFP that we all agree on!?

The only part I did wince at was when she wrote… “And it’s National NFP Awareness Week, so an opportune time to talk about chemical-free contraception.”

I assumed that she may be addressing that to non Catholics who were curious about that aspect as we all know that NFP is an anti-contraceptive worldview.

I glossed right over that! Great we have something to argue about for 50 pages.😃

Just kidding, just kidding!
