I like the Word of God because the Lord speaks in the Third Person.

That’s cool.

I like the Satanic Bible because it speaks in first person… no, I’m not a Satanist.

But seriously, it is cool to value those little things in pieces of literature that usually no one notices or minds. I’ve always found third person to be quite the challenge to write in, though–at least, for me. I much prefer first person.

I agree, it can definitely be a challenge, because the whole time you’re writing about you and so you always thinking of putting “I” instead of your name. But a challenge is always good for an artist.

Yes, when I began to write, I used a lot of third person. But then, after awhile, I tried something different. Giving my characters voices was probably the best thing I ever did!

Very true! I actually made that mistake myself when I started, but after a while I took my cue from the Word of God and began to let my characters speak. But it is ironic, because art is the mirror of the artist’s soul.

I started writing in first person when I wrote an English assignment in my Junior year of high school.

Yes, but Eucharisted was talking about when God speaks in the Third Person, like here:

That’s still God speaking in the first person - it’s not GOD saying ‘God said’, it’s the human author, who is recording God’s words as a witness, who’s saying ‘God said’.

And the human author always records God speaking in the first person - ‘I say’.

Someone needs a grammar lesson!

Oh wow! Someone needs a reading lesson! “And God spoke all these words”. What did He say? “For in six days the LORD…” That’s God saying “the LORD”! :dancing:
