Why I love my Pro-Life OB/GYN

With all the discussions about NFP and medical advice, I thought I should list a few reasons why I love my pro-life OB and encourage others to find one if they can.

• I can trust she will give me life affirming advice if an emergency occured during a pregnancy. Sometimes there’s no time to research the morally acceptable medical approach and you HAVE to rely on your dr’s advice.
• She has never asked me if I wanted ABC
• After delivery of one baby, she can’t wait to see me back for my next baby.
• There are never any stupid comments about “you know you’ll get pg again”
• I know she’ll do all she can medically to preserve my fertility and not just tell me I’m too old to have any more
• She lets me skip a lot of the testing that is unnecessary.
• A friend who sees her was advised to wait to have a DNC after a having a miscarriage incase of twins. The friend ended up giving birth to a baby boy who could have been killed if they had rushed and cleared her womb.

She’s given birht more times than me! (7 for me, 8 for her, but I’m about to tie her)

I know there are more reasons, but these are a few. If you have a pro-life OB/GYN, please add the reasons why you love them.

I think it’s great you posted all that! I see the gyno that my mom sees, and I don’t know where she stands (I am not even married yet, so not having kids for a while). But it I never actually thought of those thnigs, and when I am older, I will keep all that in mind. Thanks!

I have no idea where my doctor stands either, and I’m not sure how I’d go about finding out. I know he doesn’t perform abortions, but that’s about it.

I know of one and I am considering going to her, as well as taking my daughters there when need be. Actually she is not an OB, just a GYN, so if I do have another baby (have 7 already) I would have to switch back for awhile. She is far away, but I think the distance would be worth it for our daughters’ sakes.

What I loved most about mine was that he was not only a fine, fine doctor, but a spiritual director of sorts as well. On his office visit sheet where he wrote your vital signs, your chief complaint, etc., there was a blank labeled “soul ties.” He always talked to me about my spiritual life - it was wonderful!

Great! I think it is something we should all keep in mind! We need to give our business to those who support and live our values. I know its not always easy or even possible, but the pro-life drs out there need to know we support them.

Be careful when selecting your Gyn/OB. Many will claim to be pro-life when asked, but yet the methods they use in their practice aren’t. Its in name only to pacify the few that ask, and to keep their business

Having a pro-life OB is so much more than avoiding ABC. It is also the attitude that goes with respecting life and the body that Our Lord created for us.

Just ask!! You have hired them to be responsible for your medical care, you have a right to know where they stand on these issues and how they would handle them should they occur for you.
