First and foremost, it is that Our Lord and Savior died on that Cross for all mankind,even if were not asking for it. And by doing so,it gives us the gift of Heaven for all eternity,if we really love him with all our hearts, and love our neighbor as ourselves.
In the year 325 AD, St. Helena who was Constantine’s Mother, finally after many years of praying to find the True Cross of Jesus Christ,got permission from her Son and made the trip to Jerusalem at the tender age of eighty. After much research and payoffs, they finally found someone who knew where it was buried. It was hidden twenty feet under a Pagan statue of Venus. She not only found the Cross, but found the three Crosses.
Not knowing which cross it was,they laid a man who was near death next to each one of the crosses,and when he touched the third one he was healed immediately. She also found the title saying King of the Jews,the spear that went into Our Lords side,the Nails,the Crown of thorns,Etc. I know for many, it is so very hard for you to believe,but it’s all true. We all know that God can snap His fingers,and allow anything to happen. “Just ask with faith,and you will receive”.
I have myself four pieces of the cross,made into two Crosses,one was owned by a Priest that is dated 1902,and put in a silver locket by the nuns in the Vatican,that I received from his estate. The other is from 1750,and comes from a mission Church,and is in a Golden Reliquary,and has the wax seal of the Bishop,and I also have the Documents stamped by the Vatican with there seal.
There was a story going around,that if you had all the pieces of the cross that people said they had,you could build a ship,however in the late eighteen hundreds,the Vatican did an investigation on all the relics that went through there hands,and what do you think they came up with,only one third of a cross.
I’m a Eucharistic Minister For St. Andrews Church in Florida,and I take Holy Communion to Folks at the hospital,and pray over each one with that Holy Cross that I wear. That is another of the many reasons why The Cross of Christ is so important to me. When the people realize that it’s the true cross that they are touching,many times things happen that seem unreal,with many tears and even laughter,but somehow always feeling better then before.
