Two words: it’s great.

Cap remains convinced of American ideals. . . despite extensive corruption in the SHIELD bureaucracy.

High impact action flick. While I’m not keen on the portrayal of Bucky as an adult during WW2, the guy does a fine job as the Winter Soldier.

It’s good.

The Black Widow, however, is pretty lame; comes across as a whiny teenager.

It sounds like that movie had your name written all over it.

I kid. I’m looking forward to it myself.

The movie was really good. I’d say Captain America moved up higher on my all time favorite superhero list. Correct me if I’m wrong but is Captain America in the comics a Christian? I read somewhere on this forum that he is and if you can tell me which issues in which this is stated so I can try to pick them up that would be great.

I disagree with you with Black widow. She was very funny in the movie and Scarlet is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen 😃

We enjoyed the movie as well. I really like the character of Captain America–stark contrast to what we usually get in today’s culture. I also thought the movie did a good job of showing his struggle of living in today’s world.

I’m also not a fan of Black Widow, but only because they try too hard with that character. It’s over the top with all the “witty” banter…and I get that’s part of who she is (bc she’s broken and that’s her shield against getting hurt emotionally), but to be honest, I get tired of seeing that constantly in all movies (the broken girl who’s emotionally stunted and uses sarcasm as a defense). But, at least she’s fully clothed throughout the movie. I’m so glad we’ve moved away from the Halle Berry Catwoman.

I thought the Winter Soldier was awesome, until he took off his mask.

The one issue I’m having with the Marvel universe right now: I find myself wondering, “Why didn’t _____ show up to help?” I mean, wouldn’t Iron Man have been more helpful than this Falcon guy? My mind wandered to this after Thor and Iron Man as well.

I just saw it today…I needed to see it because tonight’s Agents of Shield has spoilers that have to do with the Captain America movie. My dad refused to go with me since he couldn’t even watch the whole first Captain America movie (i admit the first movie is slow at first, but you have to watch it for the action to start). I guess I am just more open to that - and if you haven’t seen it yet, but plan to, STAY FOR THE WHOLE CREDITS! Its WORTH IT!

I can’t wait for the next Avengers movie! Too bad my youngest nephew is still too young for it (he’ll be 8 next year when it comes out).

I have no intent to see this film and in general I do not watch things like this that are very ‘gung ho-pro american’, mainly because they are SO far from reality, it is almost comical.

Kinda like a guy that flies the american flag, goes to 4th of july parades, and claims to be a proud american, but then sits idle while the US govt does what it does!

I sometimes think people today forget that the US Constitution REQUIRES citizens to right wrongs relating to Govt corruption, including throwing off such corrupt Govts to provide better guards for the future…?? People like this like to reminisce about how the US won its independence and all the related struggles, but are not willing to do the same thing in todays world…this has always made me wonder? I refer to them as ‘fair weather patriots’.

Well, actually, I had understood that one of the themes in the Captain American movie (yes, a comic movie that’s about something) was in fact abuses committed by the U.S. government. I mean, the movie takes place in Washington, D.C., and the plot concerns something curiously similar to drones and not sitting idle while the government “does what it does.” Frankly, I was just happy to see the “Pulp Fiction” Easter Egg in the movie, which I spotted right away.

Have any CAF members besides myself seen the two Captain America TV movies from 1979 that had Reb Brown in them?

Captain America star, Chris Evans is a former catholic, now a Buddhist. according to catholic sites.🤷

And he touts his openly gay brother.🤷

I was a Marvel kid back then so of course I was disappointed with the TV version. It was different then using Lou Ferrigno because we did not have the technology then to make an actual live action Hulk.

I’m pretty stoked for The Guardians of The Galaxy movie. They got the vibe of the comics down well.

Reb Brown and Lou Ferrigno appeared together in the movie Cage.

Interesting comment. As a citizen, we have a responsibility to be involved in the process.

In my case, I’ve run for local office, sit on local boards, vote, write to elected officials, work with elected officials, and helped get others elected to local office. With the HHS mandate, I’ve written to local officials, had a sign in the front yard (which mysteriously disappeared), and even wrote complaint letters to the board members of the Catholic Health Association, complaining about their complicity in this state oppression! (OK. . . the HHS thing deeply bothers me). I routinely help the pro-life people with cash.

But yeah, you need to DO something.

Actually that’s what this second installment was about–Captain America struggling with a culture that doesn’t acknowledge clear right and wrong, and struggling with an American government that has blurred the lines of right and wrong.

It wasn’t like the first one.

I have indeed. Also the movie serial, the Don Glut amateur film, and the atrocious film that starred J.D. Salinger’s son as Cap.

I did like the new movie a lot. Nice to see UFC vet George St. Pierre as Batroc the Leaper, my favorite villain from the comics. I always loved his corny French accent and Savate moves.
