Let’s face it, the USA is past due for God’s judgment. If we have gay marriage, then maybe God will finally judge America. When there is a judgment of God, then people may turn to Him and thus have a revival — thus putting an end to liberalism.

No one can on here can say that will not happen, but existence to some extent is designed in such a way to weed out personal selfishness that definitely includes so-called gay “marriage”.

This post-modern liberalism is loaded with nothing but failed ideas that have in some shape or form been tried before.

In many ways, the liberalism referred to in the prior post (post-modern liberalism) is it’s own worst enemy. :yup:

Sin is never good for us or anyone. God will make his judgement he chooses.

And this kind of thinking is why people think Christians are utterly insane.

There are plenty of other reasons our Lord will pass judgement on this Nation and all others, and it has nothing to do with liberalism or homosexuality. Here are some that would concern me:

General movement toward mediocrity and sloth. Attitudes of entitlement and greed. Sex scandal in ALL the churches, incest in 33% of our families, disrespect and rejection of the sick, elderly, infirm and poor.

We have been going down a slippery slope for a long, long time. Especially under the guise that we are “the greatest nation in the world.” Pride before a fall comes to mind.

Well, if God judges the USA the way he judged Sodom and Gomorrah, I fail to see how it would be good for me to end up a cinder.

And downright terrifying. I don’t trust people who delight in the idea of the world ending. I fear having those people in power in this country as much as I fear them in power in other nations. Thrilled doomsdayers are a little too Jim Jones for my tastes.

I’m also going to say that if god didn’t smite us for slavery, war, human rights abuses, etc over the course of the last 250 years, then I think we’re safe with gay marriage.

There are nations where child brides are the norm-complete with kidnapping, rape, battery, and even murder. I think that if god is so concerned with marriage, those nations will be higher on his judgement list than ours.

I’d be careful about ranking sins on a Catholic forum. Homosexual acts are sins that cry to heaven for vengeance.

Or, perhaps God doesn’t really care and America will continue going on, broadening our respect for individual rights and freedoms – which is what the word liberalism actually means.

Anyone who disagrees with the liberal mindset is a bigot, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH

First of all, SODOMY, not homosexual acts, is the sin that cries to heaven for vengeance. Many theologians have included any non-procreative sexual act under this designation, including contraceptive vaginal sex, heterosexual oral/anal sex to completion, etc. It has nothing specific to do with homosexuality.

Secondly, another sin that cries out to Heaven for vengeance is the deprivation of workers of just wages, which has been rampant across the world for many centuries. That hasn’t led to smiting either. While I can’t speak for God, and I would understand why He would act against certain countries, it seems that if legalized abortion [another sin that cries to heaven for vengeance] and deprivation of wages hasn’t led to a smiting, this likely won’t either. The New Testament issued a new code with new punishments. I would theorize that there won’t be any more judgments until individual death or the Final Judgment (whichever comes first for each person).

good point!

Id like to know how long it took for God to finally decide to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, Im not sure the bible goes into that detail, but I cant imagine it was too long, Im wondering whats taking him so long in todays world…we are clearly alot worse than they were, and it just keeps getting worse and worse, yet, still NO action…not even ONE single city being destroyed…?

I think if something like this happened, alot of people would be turning their lives over to God and repenting, as they would suddenly realize its all real, thats the problem today IMO, people hear all this stuff God/Jesus did in biblical times, but in modern times, nothing of the sort happens, so they end up thinking it was fake.

Right, because it’s liberal’s that will cause the judgement of God?

I never said it did.

I wasn’t implying that anyone was going to get smote. My post said what it said.

Until then, there’s plenty of feedback loops that inevitably keep some personal selfishness in check.

👍

Amen! Where was Gods judgement on America when it committed genocide on the Indians and instituted brutal inhuman chattel slavery?

A callous, remorseless view. I happen to think that it’s good for God to withhold the fullness of His wrath for the time being. It gives more people who are lost and confused the chance to ascertain the truth. The people of America are not statistics-- they are real people with souls, emotions, eyes, legs, arms, hearts, etc.

That’s why Allah rebuked prophet Jonah [peace be upon him] for leaving Nineveh prematurely. He [Jonah] still had work to do.
