  1. Why do feel that Catholicism is the right religion for you?
  2. What do you think about the vow of celibacy that is taken by many of the leaders of the Catholic Church? Do you feel that this leads to the sexual misconduct that has been portrayed in todays’ media?
  3. Why is there a need for so many graven images in the Catholic Church, pictures and statues? The Bible states that we should not have any graven images before God.
  4. Why is there a need to confess your sin to a priest? Why is it that you do not pray to God for atonement of your sins?
  5. How can this earthly being absolve you of your sins when he is not free from sin himself?
  6. Why do you tend to pray to the Mother Mary instead of Jesus?
  7. What your belief on purgatory before entering in heaven?
  8. Does purgatory in a sense leave a soul in limbo? What determines how long one stays in purgatory?
  9. How do you feel about being saved through baptism?
  10. Do you believe that you have to accept Jesus as your personal Savior in order to be considered saved?

Too many questions in one thread. One or two questions per thread is what works. Like this: where did you get the bible, and why do you accept it as the written word of God?

Your questions are purely argumentative. They indicate an ignorance of Catholic doctrine & belief, and are, quite frankly, immature. You leave the impression of being an over-indulged young protestant who is not as clever as your mother has told you you are!

Welcome to CAF! 👋

I agree with snarflemike – too many questions for one thread, especially considering that books have been written about some of those questions.

I would encourage you to browse through the tracts here on the Catholic Answers main page. Most of those questions have been answered in great detail many times over.

  1. study and prayer
  2. a useful discipline. No, it is not related to sexual misconduct any more than marriage is related to the sexual misconduct of ministers, policemen or teachers.
  3. we don’t have images before God. The images always point us to God. They help focus our prayers and devotions.
  4. Jesus told us to confess. We also pray to God in contrition and atonement. The two are not mutually exclusive.
  5. It is heresy to believe that the validity of a Sacrament is dependent on the holiness of the minister.
  6. I don’t. I pray to Jesus (and to God the Father and the Holy Spirit). I ask for intercession from Mary and the saints.
  7. The same as the Bible’s
  8. No. Purgatory is not measured in earthly time. The Bible says the soul needs to be purified before it can enter heaven. The amount of that is up to God.
  9. Baptism saves us from original sin. It is necessary for all of the Sacraments that follow.
  10. Yes. Catholics do that first at Baptism and then every time they receive Communion or any other Sacrament. I do not believe that a staged public recitation of a “sinners prayer” has anything to do with salvation.
For more detail, go to the main site of Catholic Answers. There is a page or tract on each of these points that gives the background of Catholic belief using Scripture and early Church teaching.

WELCOME to the ‘funnies,’ nhsname!

All your questions are a common list of those who do not understand Catholicism and come levelling all those at us. That’s fine if you’re truly interested in the answers…BUT they have all been answered numerous times over the decades! Look around CAF and you’ll see and read what you’re looking for!

If you have any others left or arise out of your examinations, then you can ask a few in one thread at a time.

If I can offer some advise, PRAY and REFLECT on what you know, because your brain and belief is about to be BOOSTED to universal proportions!
