I think this would be a difficult question. Many questions were asked before but I hardly understood. I want to find some objective evidence. Thank you.

Because Catholicism is the fulness of the truth set out by Jesus Christ, the God-Man, sent to save humanity from our sins. He established the Catholic Church upon the rock of Saint Peter (as shown in the Gospel for today) for the salvation of souls.

I believe your question is a non-starter. It’s not answerable the way it is phrased. Other religions are also true, in that they contain truth for their believers. I’m not reducing truth to absolute relativism here, but people do arrive at the same destination using a path other than the one you are traveling. Given the common themes of most religions, there should be no doubt that charity is held high in the mainstream of each major religion.

Other religions emphasize elements of truth that Catholicism doesn’t necessarily always emphasize, yet may still be present in Catholicism but are periodically buried and re-emerge from time to time. This helps Catholicism, it doesn’t hurt it. It’s a compliment to an institution, a call for humility, a reminder we are not gods.

Other religions are true also.
But allegedly Catholicism has more treasures of truth than others.

Whether we have actually opened the treasure boxes and made better use of what we allegedly possess is another issue.

So in the end, it amounts to the same thing … all religions follow truth as best they know it and in practise one Church is no better than the other in that regard.

This being the case how can we objectively know which is the true-est Church…it seems we cannot. Its a “subjective” thing despite all the objective arguments. each of us has to make that decision under the guidance of the HS and conscience.

So “subjective” doesn’t mean wrong in this context - it is the only way to proceed on the matter and it is always the “true” path for me if I keep trying to inform myself, discern my conscience and follow God’s personal call on the matter.

Before that can be said, a person must have a lot of faith. Faith in a God. Faith in the human writers who penned the words in the NT. Faith in the humans among the ECFs. Faith in the Catholic Church’s interpretations.

Where has the Church said that it is the ‘alleged’ fount of Truth?

Absolutely. I never said otherwise.
You just said it so matter of factly though. When in truth it is not without first requiring a lot of faith. I just wasn’t certain your response provided enough objective evidence that the OP had originally asked for. I understand however providing such evidence is difficult when it first requires a lot of faith regardless of the faith in question. Nothing wrong with that. I just think believers need to be weary of pronouncing that they know for certain. That’s all.

I agree with some of the other posters, that there is truth to be found in all other religions. We are supported in saying this by Bishop Barron and other Catholic media personalities. If, however, you meant to phrase the question as akin to “is Catholicism the true Christian religion” it takes on a very different tenor. I’m a non-Catholic but very much support the teaching that Catholicism is the oldest of the Christian churches and can trace it’s origin back to the time of Christ.

Not sure if that helps or makes it worse for you. 😀

Regarding your question, Bishop Sheen made some very good points in his book “Life of Christ”. (Mostly at the beginning, I think.)

But my head hurts right now and I can’t afford to sprain any more brain cells this Friday. I’m sure some here have read this excellent book…

We all know what happened to that guy, Sir.

🙂

Well, it’s disputed. Never mind.

Because it is. Other religions say things that are incorrect.

Look to the lives of the saints, the various miracles, the strong philosophical history of the Church, etc.

We have the best team, best coach, best recruiting department, and our players win MVP almost every year. Our saints dominate the Hall of Fame.

So you’re answering him with an assertion that “Vatican 2” called the Church the ‘alleged fount of truth" (he asked where the Church called itself that) but that "it didn’t say what you said’.

So basically, you THINK “Vatican 2” said something LIKE what Maximillian MEANT (or what you THINK he meant) but not exactly in those words.

So “Vatican 2” may not have actually said what you say it said which is what Max asked if you said and you said yes it did but not the way Max said.

Wow do I have a headache.

And in the end, you’re only ‘saying’ that you think Vatican 2 somehow deep sixed the idea of the Church being anything other than one path of many so now it’s only True if you want it to be . . .is that it?
