Why Is Catholicism Threatened to Your Claim of Being the True Church

Do you even read the things that are posted?

Read this very very very slowly…No one is asking you to leave your church.

How many times does this have to be said?

No one as asked you to deny your church. If they have, please provide a link to that post.

I wonder though, are you secretly wanting someone to ask you to leave your church? Is that why you are really here?

If that is what you are really looking for, that isn’t going to happen. At least it shouldn’t.

All we can do, Catholic or otherwise, is to present what we believe to be the facts, and let the Holy Spirit guide you from there.

Something I find humorous in your post is that you think Catholics need to get past their arrogance that their church is true, but isn’t that exactly what you are doing? Showing your arrogance.
Ditto…

And that last paragraph is something that I had written myself, but decided not to post because I’ve said too much already.

It is said by mostly former Mormons who did not have a strong testimony or were offended in some way, using that as their excuse to leave
Oh I am so embarrassed that I used to parrot this very thought as a TBM. 😊

I thank God was merciful and forgave me for my lack of critical thinking skills and how abdicated my reason to others.

Marie, did you see TJH? If so, were his statements accurate?
Yes, I did see it. And yes I burst LOL when he made the comment!

And I used to do it, too. 😊

When you have nothing to say or dont know how to engage in a discussion or cant answer a question “bear your testimony” is the default.

At the time I thought it was a position of strength and faith.

Now I realize it a position of weakness and quite honestly, a cop out.

I also related to the painful transition of realizing you were duped and deceived and all that you had sacrificed…

I even emailed the show (Marcus) thanking him for having Cldye on. Told him there are a lot of us out here the Clyde gave a validating voice too.

Clyde I think made one mistake. He accredited BY for the “As God once was” teaching. It was Lorenzo Snow I do believe

Thanks.

What I find really sad about his/her posts, is the lack of knowledge. Whether it be about the Catholic Church or the mormon church.

I firmly believe that if he/she is happy that they are mormon, great!!! But, become a sponge. Soak up anything and everything you can about it. I say the same thing to Catholics, Methodists, etc. etc.

It is evident from his/her posts that they have limited knowledge of both the mormon church, and the Catholic church. He/she has even been corrected by their mormon brethren on a couple of issues. You know what people say. “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.”

That’s why I said I know why thecourt evades questions and keeps repeating he won’t convert back.

I can’t relate to this, but I can imagine how depressing it must have been. I would imagine myself as just giving up on religion totally. Of course, that’s what I did anyway. I told myself that Catholicism, if not false, certainly didn’t need to be followed and I could ‘go it alone’ without religion. But we can’t. We have to hold on to something because our lives are empty without God.

I know a lot of Catholic converts have lost friends, family and all kinds of fellowship when entering the Church. I know they have felt lonely because they knew they had to follow the Truth even if it meant losing their lives for it. I did not have to go through that, but now that I’m more active in defending my faith, I do turn a lot of people off.

There was a point when I was crying watching him last night when he realized that God was really there for him. You could just see in his face how grateful he was to God and I cried for about 10 minutes.

Thanks.

I know, right?!?

If you love your faith, immerse yourself in it!!! 😃

Learn everything you can about it. You’ll soon know if it’s wright or wrong, or if it at least gets you part-way there.

Oh I so related to him.

Like him I become something of an agnostic. Definately DISTRUST, (active distrust) with organized religious, esp those with male hierarchies.

I had to go thru a lot of healing.

I had given my all to Mormonism. My loyalty, my time, etc etc

Completely trusted and respect the GA’s. Even personally knew a few of them prior to them becoming members of the 12.

I never ever thought or saw myself ever becoming a member of an organized religion, never mind the Catholic church.

I was too hurt.

And let me tell you I can completely understand why so many who leave Mormonism become agnostic and even atheistic.

I’m glad God never gave up on me. Knew me. Helped heal me. It took almost 15 years though

I’m glad you’re back home! 🙂

Maybe your calling is to help others that have left the LDS? Not necessarily to have them come to the Church, but just to help them heal and cope while they are healing. Perhaps you should get in touch with yesterday’s guest? I’ve written to TJH guests before, one was “The Donut Man”.

I remember a Jehovah’s Witness that converted and was a guest on TJH. He set up a website to help former JW’s. Maybe you could do something like that…

Welcome Home!!!

I am the lay director for RCIA in our parish, and I see this alot.

People feel betrayed, disillusioned. rejected, etc., by not only their church, but by their family as well. It is hard. Very hard, and really takes an emotional toll.

I encounter people that have had very difficult spiritual journeys, swear they won’t become a member of any church again, then the Holy Spirit grabs them by the collar and say…“Oh Yeah!?! Watch this!!” Gotta love the way the Spirit works sometimes.

A difficult journey is one that is taken seriously, and is much more appreciated, and remembered than an easy one.

Again, WELCOME HOME!!!

LOL… almost every convert says the Catholic Church was the last thing on their mind if they were to convert to anything! Even us reverts have thought that at one time. 😉

Thanks to both of you! 😃

I am a catechist now in our RCIA program.

Im “replacing” a wonderful man who passed away a few months ago who was one of my catechist when I went thru. 😦

(I so miss him. He became a good friend)

Right now we have a Jewish man who is preparing for Easter Vigil. 🙂 Very interesting to be part of his journey. And of course it helps me with my own.

Yes. Looking back I can see how the Spirit was there, helping me all along and being patient.

And how I admitted that I parrotted the same?

The reason I find myself so embarrassed by it is I realize how invalidating of the real experiences and real reasons for why people leave Mormonism.

People who give their lives to Mormonism dont leave because they were “offended”

Its a very painful and soul-wrenching experience to leave it.

But you just cant give your everything to a fraudulent organization when you finally see how it is a fraud.

At least I couldnt…

It’s just not as simplist as thecourt needs to believe it is.

But I realized he/she doesnt see that.

That’s why I tell people to really learn about their faith. If you dig deep into your faith’s history and doctrine you’ll either you’ll learn a lot and gain more knowledge and wisdom 👍, or learn more than you bargained for :(.

Converts make the best Catechists!!! (I’m the exception to that rule I think :D)

The vast majority of our RCIA team is converts.

We have had Mormons, Anglicans, Orthodox, and even Muslims come through our program, and join the church.

We are very lucky to have about a 76% retention rate for new Catholics after 5 years. We are truly blessed as a parish, and a diocese. I’m sure we lose some because of moving, loss of faith, or just going through the motions to begin with, but we are thankful for each and everyone one.

Our diocese is ordaining priests and deacons at an amazing rate also. We are truly blessed.

Not to mention, we are the home Diocese for Archbishop Fulton Sheen. Seeing his cause sent to the Vatican was an awesome experience.

The church is not a fraud. My guess is the continued effort to grow a testimony is the at the heart of why most leave my church. A testimony of the truth in spite of the garbage spread here would not matter to those such as myself who recognize there have been and always will be enemies of the church.

(name removed by moderator) you are lying when you say Joseph Smith went to the Methodist church.

Bottom line, if the Methodist church was the true church of Christ, he would have been told to join them when he went to prayer. God the Father and Jesus Christ told him to join none the churches of the time.

Again you are lying.

thecourt-

Sorry. This one is also true. They kicked him out when another Methodist testified that Smith was a “necromancer”.

You have proven to me you are lying. Any site, that is not a official site of the church, can say whatever is wants. When the official sites start saying these things and of course they never will, then I have a concern.

thecourt- why do you believe “official sites” only?
