Why Is Catholicism Threatened to Your Claim of Being the True Church

Apostacy is for those who left the Church and not for those who stayed, this is pretty simple.

you know. those who left became apostates. it s impossible for the Church to be apostate. only those who leave carries the stain of being an apostate. any way this is the same claim that all protestant makes, that the Church became apostate, not even realizing what they are saying.

O truth, you are present to those who seek your help, and at one and the same time you answer all, though they seek your counsel on different matters. You respond clearly, but not everyone hears clearly. All ask what they wish, but do not always hear the answer they wish. Your best servant is he who is intent not so much on hearing his petition answered, as rather on willing whatever he hears from you.

yes i believe augustine addressed this issue, in the city of God. so yes protestants would fall into this catagory to. although i must walk very carefully on this issue. as ive stated in other post. although i do not believe that mormonism itself is Christian, i do believe that individual mormons can and are Christian. have heard some people state, that many mormons do not read the Book Of Mormon. but rely on their kjv. so we may be closer to individual mormons than we think on some things.anyhow, even though we are separated by doctrines, there are many things we can work together on. a strong family unit, prolife issues, and curtailing evils such as homosexual marraige. im not going to throw the baby out with the bath water. on social and moral issues ill work with them any chance i get. and in many ways, they are more pleasant to be around than our seperated protestant bretheren and sisters. have personally seen alot of good they do. and they were one of the first to respond to the devestation that hurricane katrina left behind. they didnt even prosylatize. just got down to work and started aiding their neighbor. there is alot we can learn from eachother despite our differences. what would happen if we started building neighborhoods around our parishes, like the mormons do in utah, by building neighborhoods around their churches. have seen this in north salt lake city, ogden, etc. its a beautiful concept. May God bless our Mormon friends.🙂

benidict so what as we continue to grow that we are building churches in Utah?

Whether in Utah or elsewhere, as we continue to grow we will build churches.

Growth means that people have had the Holy Ghost tell them that our church is true and Catholics, etc should be avoided.

The Catholic Church is building new churches all the time too. What’s your point?

Does that mean the Holy Spirit is telling people to avoid the Mormon church?

Come on now, you can come up with something better than that can’t you?

Avoid Catholicism or my church if that is the case. If Catholicism thinks everyone is coming to you in light of my church, the Protestants, and the Evangelicals you are in denial of what is actually going on.

ah, the wheat and the tares must grow together until the harvest. that time has not yet come. also the muslim believers number 1 billion. they also are planting mosque all over the united states. does this growth mean that these people have the Holy Ghost telling them that their religion is true, and that Christians etc. must be avoided?🙂 number of believers mean nothing.

this is all good. but that is not what we are talking about here. we are talking about the Church being accused of going into apostacy after the Apostles died and the mormons taking over from there.

** “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him” (6:53-56).**

agreed wisdomseeker. and i did address that in a very recent post with diana. and i was agreeing with you about those leaving who apostasized not the ones who remained. just trying to soften the edges. apostasy is a very strong word. and unfortunately it comes into play with more than one group. but we call protestants seperated brethren. could we perhaps come up with anothe word for the mormons other than apostate? we are in agreement about the Catholic Church never having apostasized.
God bless you and yours.🙂

the reason you are growing is because man have many wives therefore many children. that is the reason. you religion purposedly are having many children so you religion can look like is growing.

Even clearer testimony is provided when Jesus declares, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. again we are not calling them or no one else apostates. the whole topic is about the CC being an apostate. i dont remember seing anyone here calling mormons apostates.

all we are trying to do here is to convert a sinner to the Truth of our Lord the Christ.

Peace.

amen to that. sorry for any misunderstanding.🙂 God bless you and yours.

we can name every pope you acknowledge as pope, too. That doesn’t mean they had the priesthood.

Sure it can. Jesus breathed on the apostles and gave them the power of the holy spirit. He gave them that authority to pass on by the laying of hands. If it was taken away from them who took it away from them. Because it still exists.

Uhm, yes, we can. And do. That’s rather the point, you see.

The pope may be, (or may not be…whatever…) but the papacy isn’t the priesthood authority.
sure it is. Read james 5;14 presbyters of the church …pray over him…he will be forgiven. Its quite clear actually.

And it 2 cor. 15:17-20 It tells you quite clear again, God has reconciled us to himself given us the ministry of reconciliation. I would say that being reconciled with Christ would indeed mean that the Priesthood has authority.

now wisdomseeker…that is a cheap shot. the normal latter day saint church does not endorse nor practice polygamy. and i doubt the people on this thread are from the fundamentalist mormon sect. and as far as having many children. Catholic families are also bigger due to our opposition to birth control. and rightfully so. dont really mind if this is off topic. lets stick to the truth about our lds friends and not resort to insults, or give a knee jerk reaction.God bless you and yours. peace to you.👍
