IV. Erroneous Judgment

1790 A human being must always obey the certain judgment of his conscience. If he were deliberately to act against it, he would condemn himself. Yet it can happen that moral conscience remains in ignorance and makes erroneous judgments about acts to be performed or already committed.

1791 This ignorance can often be imputed to personal responsibility. This is the case when a man "takes little trouble to find out what is true and good, or when conscience is by degrees almost blinded through the habit of committing sin."59 In such cases, the person is culpable for the evil he commits.

1792 Ignorance of Christ and his Gospel, bad example given by others, enslavement to one’s passions, assertion of a mistaken notion of autonomy of conscience, rejection of the Church’s authority and her teaching, lack of conversion and of charity: these can be at the source of errors of judgment in moral conduct.

1793 If - on the contrary - the ignorance is invincible, or the moral subject is not responsible for his erroneous judgment, the evil committed by the person cannot be imputed to him. It remains no less an evil, a privation, a disorder. One must therefore work to correct the errors of moral conscience.

1794 A good and pure conscience is enlightened by true faith, for charity proceeds at the same time "from a pure heart and a good conscience and sincere faith."60

The more a correct conscience prevails, the more do persons and groups turn aside from blind choice and try to be guided by objective standards of moral conduct.61

As to focusing solely on the article: Can an apparently drunk person report a fire? Why attack the drunk person if something is burning? Let’s check the fire first and then deal with any drunkenness later.
. with you on this 👍
Bottom line:

It appears that CRS has lurched farther left

, and is walking hand-in-hand with anti-life forces while claiming, essentially, that “we feed those poor whom our partners don’t kill” Until this is properly refuted, I have a moral obligation to withhold my charitable finds from them and send them elsewhere. here we part ways, i can’t say if this is whats going on,i’m prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt.the word is pragmatic, which in matters such as this i believe is a sin.but i do believe these people think their doing good.

You are still deflecting the questions. The problem is not that someone has exposed what appears to be poor judgment - the problem is the apparent poor judgement on the part of CRS.

As to focusing solely on the article: Can an apparently drunk person report a fire? Why attack the drunk person if something is burning? Let’s check the fire first and then deal with any drunkenness later.

Let’s forget the article and look at the defense that CRS has raised. It is replete with weasel words. Truth is easily stated in a clear and coherent manner. I am not seeing that from CRS. They have failed to establsih a prima facia defense. They should be above reproach, without even the appearance of impropriety.

Bottom line: It appears that CRS has lurched farther left, and is walking hand-in-hand with anti-life forces while claiming, essentially, that “we feed those poor whom our partners don’t kill” Until this is properly refuted, I have a moral obligation to withhold my charitable finds from them and send them elsewhere.

p.s. I now know why I suddenly began receiving multiple solicitations from CARE. Who shared my name and address with them, hmmm? The whole thing just stinks. When something stinks, you don’t apologize for the stench - you clean it up, as is occurring with the folks over at the USCCB.
How does one refute a judgement based on appearances?

How does one refute a judgement based on appearances?
By addressing the evidences head-on with counter-evidence.

For instance, a man stands trial because someone saw him shoot someone else in broad daylight, and took a picture. However, at the trial, the man reveals that he was on a flight at the time of the shooting, and also that he has an identical twin brother.

The evidence had the appearance of a condemning conclusion, and yet the counter evidence exonerated him. No excuses as to why gun-ownership is ok, no pontifications about the how the victim was such a good and dear friend … just the facts and the counter evidence.

CRS has failed to do this time and time again. Instead, it justified the fact that it gave money to CARE and it defended its membership in the CORE Group, even though it freely admitted that CORE Group promotes contraception … and all this wile proclaiming that, "We do not fund, support or participate in any programming or advocacy that is not in line with Church teaching, including artificial birth control.”

That line right there is false, just in the face of the CORE Group admittance. What will it say about its membership in MEDiCAM?

"We do not fund, support or participate in any programming or advocacy that is not in line with Church teaching, including artificial birth control.”

That line right there is false,
Since you do not know all the truth of the situation, how can your judgement not be in error?

Perhaps, a campaign to have the USCCB, or even the Vatican, evaluate this claim would be in order and IF it is false, then have them cease to use the title of ‘Catholic’ in their name.

Why is Catholic Relief Services a member of the abortion-expanding operation, MEDiCAM?

Because of non-Catholic Catholics, nominal Catholics, cultural Catholics, lukewarm Catholics, wolves-in-sheep’s-clothing Catholics, sheeple in sheep’s clothing Catholics, “Who let the dogs in” Catholics, foolish Catholics, careless Catholics, shallow Catholics, cowardly Catholics, mistaken Catholics, duped Catholics, corrupt Catholics, heartless Catholics, mindless Catholics, secular Catholics, possessed Catholics, lazy Catholics, A.W.O.L. Catholics, unresponsive Catholics, sinful Catholics…

Most High God, forgive us and make us forgiving, deliver us from ourselves, our vices and flaws, make us wise as serpents and harmless as doves, and make us live, and move, and have our being in Thee alone. And bring that whip…Thanks. AMEN

This is an excellent analysis of CRS’ defense of its membership in MEDiCAM:

The bottom line is that CRS is contradicting itself.

🍿 don’t pay me any mind just waiting for the train of apologists for this nonsense.

Several different stories on CRS broke today, and all of them seem to confirm that there is an institutional problem that needs a swift resolution.

According to various news stories:

  1. *]CRS released a statement that the condom-promoting document it produced was "written in 2009 by outside consultants” who failed to carry out “CRS staff prescribed revisions“.
Source - Catholic Relief Services Responds to Criticism Over HIV Document, Employees

*]Life Site News found SEVERAL more documents produced by CRS that promote condom use.
Source - Caught red-handed: Catholic Relief Services documents promote condoms

*]As it turns out, the document that CRS claimed was "written in 2009 by outside consultants” who failed to carry out “CRS staff prescribed revisions“ isn’t true. Societas Restituo published a screen caputre of the CRS document in question, where it explains that the first draft of the document was written by consultant Michael Rosati (who, the document indicates, was familiar with CRS’ policies because he had worked with CRS before) and two CRS employees, Kristin Weinhauer and Tran Thi Linh Giang. But after he wrote the first draft, it left his hands and went to CRS HQ and then to CRS Vietnam for final revisions.
Source - New Evidence: Multiple CRS Documents Promote Condoms

CRS needs to be investigated and its staff needs to be completely evaluated if this is going to be resolved.
