Why is Evolution so Bad?

I’m an engineering student and always amidst a scientific environment that typically comes with a good population of atheists.
I’m a Catholic, however I’ve never been able to stand behind the view that the theory of evolution is a bad thing.
I don’t see how the theory of evolution limits God’s creativity nor points out any falseness in the Creation written in Genesis.

Currently I see that at the time of Creation, evolution could have been a byproduct of Intelligent Design. Especially if evolution could help man remain superior over all other living beings on Earth.
