But that’s stealing. Its just like what the communist did to the churches and monastery’s and most peasants at the time were conservstivr and when they started to ship all the priest out many of them quite poor themselves they didn’t like that

If you meet someone at a conference or party is there any way of knowing that person is a mason or that he is higher up in the ranks? I am excluding direct methods such as asking the person for his Masonic identification card.
What is the relation between the various groups:
Rosicrucians
AMORC
Freemasons

So you think it’s OK that 1000 people were killed without due-process, because your friend’s family benefited economically from the French Revolution?

Just because people were killed in the French Revolution doesn’t mean that everything about it was bad. I think that it was a good thing that many commoners were able to have their own land after the Revolution without so much of it being concentrated in the hands of the Church, the nobility and other wealthy people as it was before the Revolution. The French still celebrate the French Revolution just like we celebrate the American Revolution in the US, so they must think that it was a good thing overall.

And thousand of people died in the American Revolution, too, and many loyalists had their land and possessions seized and were forced to flee to Canada or to other British colonies. But that doesn’t mean that the American Revolution was therefore a bad thing overall.

OK, I see your mind is not going to be changed on this matter, so it’s rather pointless to discuss further.

The French Revolution was an out-of-control mess. If you think it was a good thing, then that’s your issue, I guess, but if you’d been living through it I think you would have felt differently even if you were poor.

Such “revolutions” are punishment for man’s sins and I hope we do not have anything like it again any time soon. It is unfortunate that people hundreds of years removed have to say good things about such a terrible time for Catholics and the Church. I also think one reason we have these tragedies over and over is because there’s always somebody who thinks it’s a good or justifiable thing on economic grounds. Muting now.

The French Revolution obviously wasn’t terrible for all Catholics since many of them, especially many Catholics who were commoners, benefited from it just as many others, especially from the nobility, lost from it. The family I mentioned above are Catholic and it wasn’t bad for them or for many others like them. In the end, it is the French themselves who should judge whether the French Revolution was a good thing for them overall or a bad thing for them overall.
