Why is having a crush on someone else's wife a sin?

I don’t have a crush on a married woman. I never said I did. I was just questioning why it is a sin.
You would not question it, or defend it, if it were not an issue.

So, you have no problem with transubstantiation, the miracle of the Sun, the Resurrection of dead bodies, flying saints, or any other issue with God or the Church, but this is your sticking point? Besides, you made it about you when you discussed your lonliness. Honesty in the thread will lead to honest discussion, evasiveness will never lead to the Truth.

I really don’t have a crush on a married woman, but I just wanted to know why it was a sin. If I have the temptation I try to fight it off knowing it is a sin but I don’t dwell on these crushes.

Define what you mean by “crush”.

Define what you mean by “crush”.
When you keep dwelling on and fantasizing about a woman or man, although this could be an infatuation. A small attraction might not be a “crush” but it is when you keep dwelling on a woman or man when it becomes a crush or an infatuation. I do not have these with married woman however I have been tempted to have a crush on a married woman especially since she was kind to me and is into a similar interest but I have successfully fought it off. I do not dwell on her and see her as a kind woman.

I do have temptations of liking married woman. Is that what you meant? However I do not indulge in these crushes and dwell on them therefore I do no think I am breaking this commandment.

To explain why it is a sin, I’d need to make sure you know the difference between covetousness and simply being afflicted by temptation. In the former, the target of the temptation cooperates in entertaining the temptation. Cooperating while rationalizing that you’re not is still cooperating. I don’t mean to be unmerciful, but just that we all need to admit that we can fool ourselves but cannot fool God. The sight of God pierces through all attempts at deception.

If you cannot help the way you feel, I do not think it is a sin to be attracted to a married woman. I think it becomes sinful if you start fantasizing about that person or do think about making a move or something on them. But we cannot help who we are attracted to sometimes. I think married women are beautiful all the time. I refer to my neighbor as “The guy with the hot wife” sometimes. I cant help that I think she it attractive. But I do not dwell on it. Why would someone NOT want to repress and get rid of feelings for a married person though? I do not want to have a crush on a married woman. Nothing can ever come of it. It is a waste of time. I want to have a crush on a woman I have a shot with. I feel the same way about celebrities too. They are people too. Not objects. When I discover a beautiful celebrity is married, I go on thinking they are beautiful. I just no longer think about how nice it would be to share a kiss or a embrace with them 😛 You know, things along those lines.
Im a woman,and i agree with this.
Its the intent to make a move part that would be the sin,not just finding her attractive.
Finding her attractive could be natural, however choosing to cheat with her would be wrong and hurting your friend.

Personally ive never understood the whole crush on a celebrity thing.
I don’t have a crush on any male celebrities and i don’t see them as any different/higher from other people.
I find certain ones subjectively attractive but i would never have a “crush” or other romantic feelings towards them.To be honest, this to me seems weird to feel that about someone you would never meet/know.
