Why is Israel used after Israel was destroyed?

Israel is used in the New Testament. Why is this? It is long after Israel was destroyed and “lost”. Again, why is the name Israel used after it was destroyed? And then much later in the New Testament?

Why not??

For me Israel refers to the people and the people were not destroyed.
 
The reason I have been questioning this is because Israel was destroyed in the 8 th century B. C. E. It is gone. Judah was left.

I was wondering if it is not tied to Israel, that is, God prevails.
 
The name “Israel” is used in the New Testament to refers the people, the descendants of the patriarch Israel (Jacob).
 
Even the books of Chronicles continue to use the term “Israel” for Judah after the destruction of the Northern Kingdom.

I find no problem. The Judahites were Israelites anyway; the schism was political.

The name “Israel” also refers to the land. The land is never called “palestine” by heaven, but “Israel”.

Matthew 2:19-21
After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”
So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel.

Israel is scattered, James addresses his epistle to “the twelve trives of Israel scattered among the nations.”
