Can you talk to someone else? Deacons? What other officials are there that can answer your questions? I have been told I have to make an appointment, but its now been 4 weeks and there is always something, told to call back next week. Should I just go sit in the office and wait there? Should I just try talking to him after Mass? I will do that today and see what happens.

Don’t know your situation, but is this something that could be taken care of in Confession ?

If it’s just asking questions about Catholic doctrine, your priest probably has sick to visit and parish programs to deal with and doesn’t have time.

It depends on what type of question you have. Is it something specific to the parish? Perhaps the parish secretary could help. Is it a question about the Church in general and what she teaches or practices? Perhaps someone here could help. Is it a spiritual question? Perhaps the deacon you mentioned or a spiritual director could help.

Be persistent. It surprises me that you have difficulty talking to your priest, as the priests at my parish and most parishes around are always in the parish hall or courtyard after mass, and remain to talk for a fairly significant time afterwards. I suppose all parishes are different.

Try to catch him after mass, and if he can’t talk at that moment, ask him if you can talk to him later that day or if he can make time during the week.

Demons rule the world now .Every soul is infected . I got sick of satan laughing at me searching for Jesus through humans. I found a better way to be still and ask Jesus to come to me…For better or for worse , he is always there.

God uses humans as instruments for His work, and the easiest way to Him is through the sacraments.

Please do not despair in the world so easily. Yes, Satan has a strong hold on it, but God created it, and he will bring all to justice in the end.

I believe you. Thank you.

It really depends on the questions you have as to whether it is something that another can answer. I dont know what area you are in but in our area we are short on priests. Some of our priest have to administer to two different parishes in different cities and they are constantly running from one to another for different reasons. i am also in a retirement area and there seem to be 2 or 3 dying every week and funerals take precedence over chatting.
Keep trying, see if someone else can assist you, ask on this forum if it is a faith matter, stay patient…

There’s always Catholic answers forums if it is a question that might fit in the forums.
Just a thought.
Mary.

continue to contact the parish office do not stop just because you think its to hard. To one of the earlier posters a priest is called to minister to all of the people in his parish. That includes the sick the home bound non catholics, dissent catholics, faithful catholics, sunday to sunday catholics, and everyone else in his geographical grounds of his parish.

But again be persistent I’m sure the priest will eventually work you in. It may not hurt to talk to him after mass or actually go by the parish office.

while confession is a good place to talk about these things sometimes it isn’t enough. Many times priests will hear confessions before mass and there is a long line of people waiting outside the confessional and a priest does want to help you solve your issues may not want to deal with things that aren’t necessarily a part of confession in the confessional. having a 30 min or 15 min appointment with the priest will allow you to talk to him without the risk of being rushed.

Our priest always reminds us that he’s not retired yet, so he’s a working priest and that he won’t always be in his office 😃

We have several retired priests who share mass duties with our main priest.

That said, I totally understand your frustration.

I had to leave several voicemail’s before I got an appointment. By then, I didn’t really need an appointment.

You can always talk with a Deacon, but if you want to go to confession you need a priest. It sounds like you are dealing with a big, busy parish; can you try another one, not so big or maybe has more than one priest available? We have a retired priest in residence and he is almost always available.
