Why is it so essential to have crosses in the churches?

You see, the question of how to interpret the Holy Scriptures is essentially related to that of the authority of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, you can’t separate the Holy Scriptures, the Sacred Tradition and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. They go together just like the 3 persons of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, always go together, never one without the other. This is how it is in the Catholic Church, whether you like it or not…

And contrary to what some people may believe, we are not ‘free’, if we do want to follow Jesus’ footsteps indeed, to interpret the Scriptures privately, to our liking or to bend them to our own views.
 
We do have free will, though. But once you have chosen to follow Jesus, you are bound to the implications of that choice and you have to be consequent with it. Which is not an easy thing for any one of us, far from it!

Good post lapell. You have given good advice " If we do want to follow Jesus’ footsteps’ That is an excellent idea. I wished that the christians followed Jesus in word and deed.

So do I, planten. That would be a much better witness to the people around us and elsewhere, wouldn’t it?
