Why is it taught that homosexuality is a choice?

I’m a very strong Catholic, but I’ve never gotten over the fact that we’re being taught that homosexuality is a sin and a choice. If you ask any gay out there, he will tell you that it’s not a choice. No one would CHOOSE to be condemned by society. Besides, homosexuality/homosexual acts have been exhibited by over 50 species of animals. I doubt they’re all “choosing” to be gay.

The Church has never taught that having same sex attractions is sinful. Certainly, acting out sexually is a choice for people with same sex attractions and this IS sinful.

Since the ways of animals often include the eating of their young and other forms of behavior unacceptable for us, I don’t see recourse to lower animals to be of any help in considering human behavior.
