Why is it that when a non-Catholic seeks information (here or really any Catholic discussion site) they are encouraged to go "right to the source; ask a Catholic, read the catechism, talk to a priest etc…) BUT when a Catholic/ non-Mormon seeks information about the LDS church they are basically told that they will be deceived/lied to if they read Mormon literature or ask a Mormon? Please don’t say “because it is true”…A Catholic is just as able to deceive as a Mormon is. The best way to get information about any group - including the Catholic church/LDS church is to go to their current printed OFFICIAL teachings, then talk to current members then seek historical doccumentation. No religion is without it’s embarassing moments in history:blush: , but we must not rely on the slander of others to help us discover the truth.👍

That’s because the whole Mornoid schtüke is based on deception, to be exact the kind that Eastern spirituality calls “prelest.”

The “two personages” Joseph Smith saw were demons imitating the Father and Son.

Mormonism is, at bottom, a polytheistic fertility cult.
 
IMO, from my experience, it is rare that you get a straight answer from a mormon. You’ll often get misled or ignored or sent in the wrong direction. When you want a straightforward answer, it often doesn’t come. That’s just from my experience.

If you ask a catholic, we’ve got lots of material to refer to and back up our answer. And you’ll usually get a straightforward answer. Unless you get a catholic that doesn’t know their faith, that is.

Ask a catholic a question about what goes on in mass and they’ll tell you and probably invite you along. Ask a mormon about what goes on in the temple and all the secret ‘signs’ to get through the ‘veil’ to heaven, and they’ll clam up real quick. And you’re definitely not going to get an invite.

IMO, from my experience, the mormon faith isn’t an open one. And that throws up all kinds of red flags with me.

I agree with you. The search for truth about a faith/denomination/religion should start from the **Revealed Book **of that particular faith/denomination/religion ; and certainly it should not be based on what the opponents have written about them.
