Not being around me every hour of the day, I don’t see how they can tell if I AM ignoring it 🤷 Are you getting in these peoples’ face and telling them their advice is wrong or something?
Well, i think you’re addressing me since I made the huffy comment… and it wasn’t about colds… but no, they are not around me 24/7 but there is always the barrage of follow up questions after the initial “advice”… “did you try it did you try it did you try it did you try it?” And if you say no, for whatever reason, they assume you just don’t want to get well or don’t like them personally because no sane person would refuse their advice…

See? SEE?? SEEEE???

I knew you all would be arguing over the best thing to take.

:rotfl:

I’ll take my nyquil and go.

And this ester c is amazing stuff…really.

Just have to second this:thumbsup:

If I take Ester C in high doses when I first feel I am coming down with something, POOF, it’s gone. And what our bodies don’t use we just pee out…makes for some fun colored urine, but that’s just part of the whole fun deal:p**

Come on KC!

You know you need to take the Vitamin C, green tea, and echinacea! It shortens your cold to a mere week.

Those other people who won’t take it will be sick for a whole seven days!

Nah I think she was actually referring to me because I said people were getting huffy over Vitamin C.

I am polite – I usually dont want to argue about it, but if I say I really prefer Nyquil or whatever oh then I get the “talking to” about vitamins.

I just simply get tired of hearing it. Really. I am not a fan of unsolicited advice period – and therefor I have become more fully aware of my own doling out of unsolicited advice. If I do it, I apologize usually.

So I come here and get to give all kinds of advice per request! LOL
👍

It just seems the worst with colds. OK OK That and babies.
:rotfl: I think I got the latter covered though. 😃

if you get sick or stay sick, tell them, yeah I tried it, never again, just look at me now!

if you get better say, no, because I took [insert any crazy thing you like] and I feel great.

my personal opinion and I have had more experience than most of you cuz I’ve had more years to get sick, is that in general OTC stuff does not work, except on symptoms, and makes a cold last longer because it stuffs you up more. I go back to the tried and true. When I feel it coming on I do take the zicam (oddly enough zinc was also in some pop remedy in the 60s I forget the name). and that usually stops it.

But if I know I am in for the siege I make a pot of chicken soup with lots of garlic & onions, all the veggies I can cram into it, and dried red chilis. strain it, and drink the broth hot all day instead of tea or anything else. buy a bag of oranges (eat the oranges, not juice), and the smallest bottle of bourbon I can find. I keep that in the freezer and sip it during those coughing attacks that come when I am getting over it. when I get tired of soup I drink red zinger. and Puffs with Lotion. gotta have em. at work since I can’t bring the bourbon into the parish office I use Hall’s original flavor but sugar free. The only other OTC thing I do is flush my nose with plain saline spray 4 times a day. If I have flu symptoms (have not in the last few years since I started getting the shot) I take that homeopathic remedy occi something.

To get rid of a cold quickly, chew raw garlic. It makes people less likely to want to talk to you for long too, so you won’t be complaining about all the unwanted advice you get on how to get rid of a cold quickly.

And take your NyQuill.
