Why Is It Wrong For Women To Aspire To The Priesthood?

But men can be nuns. They are called monks! The monastic life is for both men and women. Such logic does not follow.

Also, if priesthood is literally an espousal relationship, then how can lay-men be part of the church, “the bride”? Such logic also does not follow.
It has to do with personal and ministerial activity. A man is never the Bride by himself personally, but only as part of the greater whole of the Body/the Bride (i.e., the Church/the congregation). Also, being the Bride (or part of the Bride) is not an active or ministerial role, but a passive, receptive role. The laity (as laity) do not serve the Church in a ministerial capacity, but rather are ministered to and receive sacramental service from the ministerial priesthood, which works actively (and personally) in the place of Christ the Head (in persona Christi Capitas) for the welfare of the Bride. So, the roles of Bridegroom and Bride are not congruent, but fundamentally distinct and different in their capacities.

I recently came across this statement:

Pope John Paul II gave permission to Bishops to give permission to Priests to allow Altar girls to serve in 1992, or thereabouts, prior to that time some Diocese had used Altar girls but until then it was illicit. Neither Pope John Paul II nor Pope Benedict XVI have given permission for Altar girls to serve in the Diocese of Rome.

Just as a side point, girls can not become Acolytes. Acolytes are the proper minister, and are always men who are instituted to that role. For a long time however there haven’t been enough Acolytes so lay people have been allowed to serve in the absence of a sufficient number of Acolytes.

This would be bring me to another question:

Say for an example there is an extreme situation where there are only women available on the Sabbath at a particular location.

Would they be denied to partake of the holy sacrament because they would not be permitted to bless it?

Of course, since a priest of the Church isn’t available to confect the Eucharist. If there are already-consecrated Hosts in the Tabernacle, permission may be given by the Bishop to have a prayer service (not the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass) with the distribution of the Hosts to those gathered.

So what I’m understanding is that there is a state of sacred balance between male and female.

Sometimes a balance does not always appear equal yet it is so.

It contains a mutual coexistent state of relation that is both complimentary and sustainable.

This is often seen in nature.

One example would be how supposedly the universe is made up of one third matter to two thirds dark matter.

This balance allows the universe to exist in its current state.

However, if the amounts of matter and dark matter were equal, the physical universe as we know it would revert back to a state of pure energy.

So basically we each contribute and do our part as a whole and we are all equal by God whether it is seen or unseen.

I haven’t posted for awhile but I came across this in an old Judaic text:

Adam and Eve were created, formed and connected back to back.

Elohim then separated them which is in reference to," divided the light from the darkness".

At this point of separation, the darkness was drawn toward the light and they turned around to face each other.

There was an expansion of the darkness to the light in equal distance.

This formed a sacred union which established day and night and formed man and woman.

2Ch26:16-21

Pride and its punishment

16 But once he was strong, his arrogance was such that it led to his downfall; he was unfaithful to Yahweh his God by entering the Temple of Yahweh to burn incense on the altar of incense.
17 Azariah the priest with eight brave priests of Yahweh followed him in;
18 confronting King Uzziah, they said to him, ‘Uzziah, you are not allowed to burn incense to Yahweh; only the Aaronite priests consecrated for the purpose may burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have been unfaithful and will have no honour from Yahweh God.’
19 Uzziah, censer in hand to burn incense, flew into a rage. But while he was raging at the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead in the presence of the priests, in the Temple of Yahweh, there by the altar of incense.
20 When Azariah the chief priest and all the other priests turned towards him, there was leprosy on his forehead and they hurried him outside, and he himself was equally anxious to get out, because Yahweh had struck him.
21 King Uzziah was a leper till his dying day. Because of this, he lived confined to his room and was excluded from the Temple of Yahweh, while Jotham his son, who was master of the palace, governed the people of the country.

There are a lot of little reasons why women cannot be priests which can be adduced. Scriptural ones, philosophical ones, evolutionary ones, sociological ones, etc.

The only one we need to be concerned with is that the Church, in its wisdom, has determined that women cannot be ordained. Not that it chooses not to but that it has not the capacity to do so. And the Church is protected from error by the Holy Spirit.

Individual people may not like it. But individual people are not protected from error.

As has been said earlier, it wastes a lot of time and energy aspiring to be something that one cannot be.

I can aspire all I want to be over 6 ft tall, naturally blonde and blue-eyed and super slim. All the aspiring in the world won’t make it so.

And I’d rather spend that time and energy making the most of my 5 ft 2, naturally brown haired and green eyed and curvy-but-healthy self. The results will be better in the long run.

Not sure what this has to do with the question at hand. Read Ordinatio Sacrodotalis. Then Read Lumen Gentium #25 and decide whether you need to follow the teaching of the Roman Pontiff.

if you want biblical text just look up Deuteronomy 23:2… that explains it plain and simple 👍

I see there are many fragmented truths that need to be reconnected to the one main truth.

Hopefully this will all be re-established during the dispensation of the fulness of times.

You can’t see the connection?

Substitute the King for the women who aspire and their supporters; Azariah, the Chief Priest and the eight brave priests for the Pope and the Catholic Church.

The punishment: I dread to think of it.

Hello everyone.

I understand the traditional and previous state of the law and do have a deep respect for that.

I mean no offence.

However, Jesus came to perfect and fulfill that law.

He taught love, respect and equality for all.

Looking into some of the mysteries and symbolic acts of Jesus, particularly with his lifting up of Mary Magdalene and his further relationship with her, I feel there is a subtle underlying truth there that is not clearly evident at this time.

It may be symbolic of it is eventually to come.

Anyway, in the meantime, I came across this excellent article:
