Why is it wrong to love Mary?

I believe it was 2ndGen that argues in this thread that Protestant clergy have been guilty of pedophilia 12 times as often as Catholic priests Proof? The whole priestly scandal broke into the open in Boston. The Boston Globe studied Protestant clergy at the time and concluded that the problem was not nearly as severe among Protestants. Where it has existed it usually was among peripheral, self-described clergy of storefronts and the like.
Code:
It's easy to become defensive and invent a false charge.

Why the pedophilia among priests? Let me suggest these two principal reasons at least. 1) Celibacy. Normal human beings have a strong God-given sexual impulse. Celibacy doesn't permit that desire to be met in the approved fashion, through marriage. 2) Homosexuality. Young Catholic men with gay propensities often would enter the priesthood, sometimes hoping to conquer their sexual desires and/or so as not to have to explain why they remain single. Most of these men kept their vow of celibacy. But others did not. Sadly, these often targeted teenage boys who were often 'available' as altar boys, through youth groups, etc.

I know this doesn't focus on Mary specifically, but since
2ndGen made the charge on this thread, it seems fair to permit a reply.
Most priests and ministers I have known have been devoted, seeking to serve Christ and their congregations.****

That one and this one are tied for my favorites:

youtube.com/watch?v=07cmMhQxjfg

When I get down or too aggresive here,
I watch these videos and realize exactly who I’m dealing with.

Then, I :rotfl: and feel good again.

👍
So you personally dealt with the people in these videos? Do you always quote scripture and then laugh at how unbelievers mock Christians?

Again I see that 2ndGen has gone far away from the topic, and what is the point of all this? I don’t see this leading anywhere…except other christian brothers futher away from our Blessed Mother
God bless

Im Protestant and I love Mary. Why shouldnt we love the mother of God? Jesus did!
Amen to that Drew.

I chalk it up to misindoctrination that if someone was to love Mary, it would be considered worship, yet, they can still love their grandmother that passed away.

Some would justify it by saying that they knew their grandmother. Which is a reasonable argument, but if they were to imply that because we haven’t physically met while living the person, we can’t love them, they’d have to discard loving Jesus.

It’s really not rocket science.

I commend you for loving her.

That doesn’t mean that you pray to her or that you worship her.

It just means that you more than acknowledge her as a historical figure.

God bless you.

🙂

Yes, it was very tacky entertainment. How embarrassing for the “worshippers” as well.

No, it doesn’t belong here. Take it to another thread. Or better, stop trying to point out one anothers faults and shortcomings and find something more glorifying to discuss!

Isn’t the Church made up of men? (I know you will wiggle out of this question)
Wow, I really don’t understand your open hostility toward me. I try to post nothing but sincere, honest replies to other posts.

To say that the Church is equal to the men that are it’s members is like saying that America is equal to the people that live in it. If this were true, one could argue that since there are approximately 2 million bad people in prison in America (and even more that haven’t been caught), America is bad and should be resisted at all costs. Certainly this is not true. Note: I am not trying to equate the Catholic Church with America, I’m only using this as an example.

As such this is getting extremely off-topic . . . I would recommend some further reading:

I think Jesus taught that you should submit, but not to the point of going against God. So if a cop ordered me to worship Satan or Caesar then I would refuse and be shot or arrested or whatever.
I think everyone is missing the point of my example. Of course you are correct that we must recognize a bad teacher or person within the authority. But the fact that men are able to abuse position within the authority does not eliminate the authority; that would be chaos.

Let’s try another example. Authority is not like Baskin-Robbins (an ice cream shop that touts 31 flavors). At Baskin-Robbins one is able to go in and select, for example, “a scoop of chocolate, and a scoop of cookies ‘n’ cream, and some nuts on top.” This is not so for authority, you take the pre-made sundae or nothing at all. Is it possible for the worker to poison the pre-made sundae? Yes, does that mean that all sundaes are poison? No. Hopefully one would be able to see the worker insert the poison or recognize it in the sundae.

Ohhhh. So, it’s ok for you to take the thread off topic, but if we do it, it’s all of a sudden wrong?

:hmmm:

What scripture teaches on trying to correct others for doing the exact same thing that one does:

Romans 2:21
“Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?”

Here’s the point Manjiga…this thread was getting extremely heated and Mary was being used as a point of contention.

I threw in a humorous video to make us laugh and to give us all a break from the rhetoric.

As far as Christians that don’t love Mary as we do, if they haven’t loved her before as we do, then a video isn’t going to make any difference.

I would never allow a video stop me from loving her.

Who would be wrong there?

Besides, it was in good nature.

I love that video. I see it at least 10 times a day.

Personally, I think it’s beautiful the love that the persons “in” the video show (they remind me soooo much of my family who are 1/2 Pentecostal).

It’s also just plain funny too.

I guess you could say that I get what “they” themselves refer to )as ‘holy laughter’ (not my phrase, but theirs).

😃

I was trying to relate to the thread, at least I tried. Even if you thought I was not.

You post a video link that has the “F” word on it twice while unbelievers mock Christians. The other link is labeled “crazy a**…”

And the hypocritical part of it is, you post scripture in your defense of doing such things.

I reported this to a moderator and so far nothing is done about it.

Sorry 2ndGen, I personally don’t see anything funny in seeing eveil spirits at work, especially if they are recorded ( I aplogize if someone is offended by this remark)
But you guys know better than me, because I can see people here doing a good job discussing and explaining our One Holy and Catholic faith…

Who are the “evil spirits” at work?

A) The video could’ve been silenced at the first mention of a curse

B) I pointed out that you are guilty of going off topic so you can’t criticize others for doing it.

C) I never go off topic and respond to off topic references to bring that conversation back to the topic (as I did with you and a I’m going to do again right now to see “if” you get back on topic now).

Well, I believe that some get carried away with their worship and may honestly believe that they are pleasing God.

I can’t judge them. But I love their fervor.

I’ve seen other examples that I have no doubt are works of evil (Have you seen “jesus Camp”?).

However, the video was to take the edge off of the conversation.

Some were going off topic, so I submitted a funny video to take everyone who was off -opic off of their off-topic!

😃

But we can get “back” on-topic now!

Obviously, you don’t think it’s wrong to love Mary, right?

I love her!

And Jesus loves that about me that I love her so greatly despite all my faults.

👍

I have a question: who can stop discussion when it gets off the topic?
Where is Jimmy B who started it…where did we get so far?

I love Mary, the mother of my Lord.

I love her soooo much I wouldn’t post videos of unbelievers laughing at those praising her son. Even if it did not match how I worship and praise him.

Oh they’ll get to me now that you ran and ratted me out.

But rest assured that “your” violations will be noted as well.

You may have just succeeded in getting us both knocked off in your “rush” to judgement.

If they judge you by the same standard that you pass judgement, sayonara for the both of us.

👍

Wow…that was really sore of you.

You never even responded to my “on-topic” question (dont’ think that they won’t recognize that you’re ready to complain about others being off-topic, yet you “not” respond to the question posted to you as well…hypocrasy defined).
