Why is Jesus' last suffering called the "Passion" of Christ?

I hope I understand your question correctly.

The English word “passion” came from the Latin “passio” (a noun) and that word means suffering.

As a Latin verb, “pati”, to suffer, it also gave us the English word “patience.”

Blessed Holy Week.
