just wondering why life is harder for some than it is for others? some get all the breaks, and others don’t. iam not referring to myself. i know someone who had a very difficult life and is poor and just never really got a break. then there are others who just have it good and always get the good things in life. the person i know has always struggled and is poor. its sad it really is. there’s no justice in people always struggling and being desperately poor. it saddens me that people who are well to do alot of them walk by the poor man or homeless man and ignore him. yet, somewhere, there is a good samaritan who helps the man up. these are the people who love God. the good samaritans.

who’s going to walk by the poor or hungry or homeless man and ignore him? is it going to be you, or someone you know? i hope not.Jesus said, if you do it to the least of these, you do it to Me.

the simple answer is because people make it that way.

I once heard it explained that the world is a lousy home, but a great gymnasium. We are here to get spiritual exercise.

I don’t have a clue. And right now, we are sorta in that place ourselves where we can barely make it through the week and it kills me 'cause our little miracle boy with Down syndrome surely didn’t ask to be born into this situation… so I don’t know what He has in mind for us…

But you just have to leave it in His hands 'ya know?

Our Lord said, “Those who persevere to the end shall be saved”.

That’s an interesting answer and one that currently I have stumbled upon myself.

I’ve got associates at work who always seem caught in a tornado. There is always some huge, horrible, tragic event going on. I got to thinking, “wow, my life is really amazing” or “they are so unlucky”

Well, today another huge, bad thing happened and I just came to this conclusion that their life sucks because they let it suck. They are poor because every single financial choice they make is wrong, but you don’t notice that until it gets to the big huge story of how their bank account is frozen.

They are unhappy and hurting in their relationship with mr. jerk because they chose to be in a bad relationship with a horrible guy and they still choose to stay in that relationship.

Their doctor exam comes up with terrible sicknesses and they are always in pain because everything they eat and their entire lifestyle is unhealthy, but you don’t get to hear about it until the person misses their daily dose of medication.

I sympathize. But a part of me wants to say, “Get up and fix your life!”

I can’t help thinking about a lady that I work with.

She is so broke that some days she can’t buy food for her kids. Granted, she has made bad mistakes in her life. She got married to a guy when she was 18. Had one kid and the guy started beating her. She left him. A few years later, they got back together and he got her pregnant again and then split. She never gets any child support or anything from him. She probably should have learned her lesson the first time, but her second child, her daughter is such an angel. Her parents won’t help her out and have all but written her off because the kid’s daddy is not the same color. They won’t call her children their grandkids.

She is in kind of a dead end job at our place. She’s only making $9 an hour. She’s in her 40’s and has a car payment, house payment, and 2 kids to support. I know she’s got it rough and before I knew her very well it used to make me mad when she talked about going to all the agencies in town to see what extra money she qualified for from the government.

She has applied to different jobs all over the place but nobody wants to hire her. She has no shame in telling even complete strangers how broke she is and that her kids can’t have any dinner because they don’t have any food in the house. If you try to offer her anything she will get defensive and say she doesn’t want anyone’s charity.

She also bought her son a car when he turned 16. Yes, it was an old junky car but my parents never bought me a car and they were pretty well off. She also has a computer and pays for internet access. :hmmm:

My friend doesn’t seem to have her priorties straight, but she’s a good christian woman and I love her.

She almost got a different better paying job within our company. It was down to her and one other person that wasn’t even qualified (related to the supervisor) and they had picked my friend. Another person from that department told the boss that he wouldnt hire her because of a problem he had with her 5 years prior. FIVE YEARS. So they hired the other girl and now my friend is thinking about suing on grounds of nepotism. :o

I know this sounds weird but I honestly believe we all have to be polar opposites in life

No one persona has the same story. oddly enough even in the bible the rich man gets the fuzzy end of the lollypop.

Yes we make choices but i also believe God has our lives planed in some ways. and what may seem horrible to one may not seem as bad to another

I am reminded of this precious story

I don’t know it word for word sorry

I was once walking and my cross was getting so heavy to bear. I then saw Jesus and said “jesus my cross is so heavy I can not bear to hold it” He lead me through a door to a room with crosses of many sizes I found the smallest one and said this is the one I would like he said my daughter this is the one you were carrying all along

can’t find the actual story online but you get my drift

HeyTraditionalCath, get yourself a copy of…

Arise from Darkness: What To Do When Life Doesn’t Make Sense. by Father Benedict J. Groeschel, C.F.R.

Also…

Answers Not Promises: Straightforward Solutions to Life’s Puzzling Problems by Mother M. Angelica with Christine Allison.

These are wonderful books to read. I think you will find them very helpful.

Life can indeed be hard, but as my dear sister says, offer it up to Jesus. Which I have done.

I like that story Patti Pryor, I think we should always remember someone elses shoes might hurt our own feet. In this vale of tears we are wounded people in an imperfect world. Some of the people you think might have it all have junk in their lives that would surprise you. I try to remind myself of these things when I get to feeling that way.

I agree with Hasikelee. Some people just make stupid decisions that put them in their current affairs. It’s even worse when they acknowledge their poor choices but still refuse to change.

However, there are some people who always seem to get the short end of the stick. And for those people I feel truly sorry.

For example, my mom told me the story about how I got my name. When she worked in the hospital she cared for a teenager who was about 16. A drunk driver had hit his car. Everyone else in the car had been killed, but he was paralyzed from the neck down. When he was in his late 20’s he ended up dying from cancer. My mom thought the guy was such a nice guy she decided to name one of her kids after him. That kid was me.

I don’t know why life is hard, but all we can do is hold tight to the faith that God will provide.

Yes life is hard. I live a small life. Every day is a struggle, and I will never do great things. I finally figured out that the job God gave me to do is to just hang in there. So every day, that’s what I do.

I don’t know why life is so difficult.
My husband paid $12,000.00 in medical expense last year because I am sick.
We are currently paying $3,200.00 in a two month period for one of my medications.
I watch everyone around me do so much with their lives and I feel like I move like a turtle half the time.
I think it could be easy for me to be bitter and jealous.
And I have been both because that is the human in me.
BUT…I am closer to Christ than I have ever been.
My health was excellent for many years.
And for me, now that I am sick, I long for Christ in a whole new way.
I’d rather feel needy and lean on Him then feel I have it all together and can stand on my own two feet.
But this is just how I feel and how I cope with having two diseases and other health problems.
And, yes, I love to read Christ saying “whatever you do unto the least of these, you do unto Me.”
I spend time with the very sick and elderly.
And it feels GREAT!!!
God bless…

Fantastic book!! I don’t know why some people seem to have bad things happen to them and why life is difficult. Like most of us, I’ve had my one woman pity parties. But then I think;

I’m blessed to be a Catholic
I have excellent health
I have a decent job
I have a good family

So what if I don’t have it all. I have enough.

Charles de Foucauld once said, "God doesn’t want me to be successful. He wants me to be faithful."

As I try to say in my signature, what happens to you in this world really more or less means nothing. The only thing that counts is how well you prepare yourself for the next one. When you die, God isn’t going to give a dented dime about how much money you made, which country clubs you belonged to, how many fancy cars you owned, how many famous people you met, or the size of your 401K. He’s going to want to know one thing: “How well did you follow Me? Did you do what I asked you to do?”

Have you ever had a terrible nightmare, where things were going from bad to worse to horrible, and then you woke up and said with immeasurable relief, “Oh, thank God—it was all just a horrible dream”? Well, that’s exactly the same way you’re going to feel the instant after you die. This life is nothing. All it amounts to is a training ground for the next one. Other than that, it doesn’t mean a thing.

People have a hard time with this, because this world’s system tries to pound into our heads from infancy that we have to be “successful”; that we have to make lots of money and have three cars and a big house and all the toys and a retirement account and all sorts of yummy stuff in our five refrigerators.

The reality is, none of that stuff amounts to a hill of beans. There is only one thing that matters: “How well did you follow Me? Did you do what I asked you to do?”

It helps to remember that this world is sort of like some sort of insane supermarket where the price tags have all been switched around: the stuff that really amounts to something and is important has all been marked down to nothing and nobody wants it, because they don’t put any value on it…but the cheap, worthless junk has a titanic price tag on it, and people will work night and day trying to acquire it.
