I am not catholic, however i want to learn more about catholics. I cant understand why mary would be considered sinless. First I see that mary in the book of luke even says jesus is her savior which is in luke chapter 1:47…she says she is a servant and jesus is her savior. No where in the bible does mary ever get so much praise that would show she is so holy and sinless…in fact jesus never really points much out. In fact when mary is trying to get to jesus, jesus himself says those who obey me are my mothers and brothers. And then again jesus says this in another part. jesus praises alot of other people but never says they are holier. He says that john will be last and the first will be last, to show equality. yet in the bible god says that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of god, and then jesus says no one is good and explains the commandments, and thats because none of us can be good people since we become liars and murderurs. cus if we have someone its murder and if we lie we are liars. or even adulturers for lusting. and as new testament believers paul should somewhere share that mary is so holy or something special about mary, but come to think of it i may be wrong but i dont think i have read about mary in the new testament, and if i have its not much written about her. To say mary is sinless contradicts that about how we are all sinners and such. and to say she always did good means she was a good person when jesus says none of us are. I know shes jesus mother, but thats only because god chose her as an instrument…would i want my mother perfect? of course and god also created us for his pleasure, yet we still sin against him. so he may of wanted to create mary perfect, but that would contradict him. many places will show that we cannot be perfect and sinless. mary contradicts this in many ways. why would she have any more power than anyone else? look at adam and eve and they even sinned. i just dont understand why catholics need to believe mary was perfect…maybe i will get some kind of good answer…i always get answers that use peoples intellegence which is not gods intellegence. a guy told me wouldnt i make my mom perfect if i was going to have a mom? ya but sorry gods intellegence says that we have all sinned and i only know that the bible makes it clear no one is chosen to be more holier or whatever over others. the first will be last and the last will be first. the reason there is a split with protestants and catholics, is because protestants have the bible and catholics have the bible and that other book…sorry i totally forgot the name right now. but the bible is gods word, and its not possible for me to believe mary could of been perfect. just like anyone else she was a chosen instrument…why is she any different? yes shes gods mother but forget our human intellegence and just look at gods and see that god says no one is perfect and all have sinned.
