Hello!
Why is praying the rosary important?
Why is praying the rosary important?
The rosary is prayer on rails. It not only gives a guy a format and a length. It not only gives you suggestions on what to think on while you’re at it. But it also gives you the assurance that you’re reaching Mary with this. That she’s praying with you. And I mean anytime you can get your mother to help you with something it’s more likely to get done. Especially when she’s talking to Dad on your behalf. I mean at least that’s been my experience.Hello!
Why is praying the rosary important?
Fragile, (we all are fragile)About a year and a half ago I had what you might call a psychotic breakdown, terror gipped my heart to the point of losing my appetite and not being able to sleep for weeks. For 30+ years, pretty much all of my adult life, I had been enslaved to porn and all manner of sexual immorality. At that time I started praying the rosary daily, my mind was racing like a computer on steroids and I needed something to focus on, it helped greatly. over time the fear subsided as well as my obsession w/lust…then I began skipping days, then I stopped praying it all together, then mass attendance became sporadic, then I stopped going all together and went back to an Evangelical church…then I fell!
Have become re-enslaved for the past three weeks, so all I know to do is go back to where I really fell from, where I thought I “had this thing beat” and go back to utter dependency on our Lord and our Lady…
Yeah. I know all about addictions. Though mine are substance based, it’s the same part of the brain involved. So I totally see myself in this too. So yeah. Without the rosary sustaining me in this I’m pretty much back at square one again. Thanks for being so honest here. Thanks for that because it underlines the power of this set of prayers better than any solid words of praise. It’s a more direct cause and effect. And it’s been my experience too.About a year and a half ago I had what you might call a psychotic breakdown, terror gipped my heart to the point of losing my appetite and not being able to sleep for weeks. I like what that priest said! Thanks to all of you for your inspiring testimonies.
I have for a very long time, known about the power of the Rosary prayers. And yet, I am reluctant to do it. My mind wanders, I have trouble thinking of things to meditate upon.
Also the repetition of the prrayers can become monotonous.
What I did was mention this once to a retired missionary priest relative. He answered me, if you dont like praying the Rosay, all the more merit you will receive for praying it
In other words, God sees our efforts to please Him and generously rewards us for them
