Paul is speaking of Jesus’ death to atone for Original Sin (Adam’s sin). Only Jesus could atone for Original Sin. No works of man could atone for Original Sin.Why is predestination wrong?
It’s not!!! Anyone who teaches that salvation is earned is contradicting the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible.
Paul wrote in Ephesians 2:8, “…for by grace you have been saved through faith, and* that not of yourselves; it is a gift of God, not of works*, lest anyone should boast.” (Emphasis Added)
Romans 5-18-19 “Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.”
God wills (desires) that all men be saved and Jesus died as a ransom for all, yet not all men are saved. Why not? The Free Will of each man determines if he is saved or not.John wrote in John 1:12-13 “…as many as received him [Christ], to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe his name; who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (Emphasis added)
1 Timothy 2:3-7 “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, 7 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.”
Noah et al were righteous men. They lived and died before Jesus was born. This type of righteousness is about personal sin (works), not Original Sin since they still needed Jesus to atone for Adam’s sin in order for them to enter heaven after they died. They waited in “Abraham’s bosom” (Limbo) until Jesus opened the gates of heaven for them:The Bible teaches that because we are so depraved in our sin that salvation must be a gift of God, for the will of our own fallen nature wants nothing to do with God, let alone acknowledging a need to be saved.
Genesis 6:9 “this is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God.”
Luke 16:22-23 “So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.”
We were predestined by God’s foreknowledge and because of God’s foreknowledge of our personal actions (works) while we are alive on earth.“Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as he chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he made us accepted in the Beloved.” Ephesians 1:3-6 (Emphasis added)
1 Peter 1:1-3 “Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2 elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ:”
