Which post?
All of them. You think that your statements are more than opinion? They may be reasoned opinions, or even opinions based upon a specific knowledge base, but you’re just pitting YOUR opinions against MINE.

What I said was your opinion was that “counsel” was a better word than “plan” or “purpose”. YOU HAVE NOT PROVED THAT! Not in any post.

**To prove that counsel is the correct term, you need to cite scholastic work from Biblical and language scholars. **

NONE OF YOUR POSTS, DID THAT.

Let’s try something else. You’ve already said that I’m not a Christian. I want to become a Christian. Please tell me how that can happen.
I did not say you are not a Christian. What I did say is your concept of a murderous god is not Christian.

I believe you are a Christian, just misguided in some of your beliefs. Some. Not all.

It’s not! It’s taught in the Bible. St. Augustine wrote about predestination…also known as Divine Election. You cannot be a true Christian (be ye, Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, Reformed or Evangelical) if you do not believe in predestination! Anyone who tells you otherwise, is leading you astray.
Dear friend in Christ,

Could you be a bit more specific, so I can read for myself where St. Augustine made such a claim? Thank you:thumbsup:

I have my doubts about it’s validity for two very good reasons.
Code:
1. As stated it denies the very Nature of God, which is unchangeable!

2. It is clearly anti-biblical

God's love and peace my friend! I look forward to your reply.

MGLechner is correct. St Augustine does have a theory on predestination. It is in his work on Grace and Free Will. St Thomas and Molina also have advanced theories.

Predestination is a de-fide dogma (highest binding certainty) of the Catholic Church.

Don’t worry. My heart sank too when I found that out.

But Catholic doctrine on pre-destination is not the same as Calvins.

The Church does not teach double pre-destinaton or negative pre-destination.

And while the Church affirms pre-destination of the elect, she does not say how this works.

The two main lines of thought on this are from St Thomas and Molina ( a Jesuit) but the church has not decreed which one is correct.

I have done a little bit of studying on this and will post links to other threads where the question of predestination was discussed.

She/He can’t answer the questions because of her own doubts about what the truth is? It would be nice to answer because I was just told I was not a Christian on another thread. If this wasn’t so sad it would be funny.

Well, not that my opinion matters, but I think you are a Christian. And yes, misguided on some of your beliefs but a Christian nonetheless.

I think you have great faith in Christ but what you believe on the hows and whys of salvation need twicking.

[SIGN]“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)[/SIGN]
So my dear friend in Christ Jesus, allow me to ask you…

Do you “confess your sins?”

Do you Confess your sins in the way and manner that Jesus desires you to do it?

This is not the same question asked twice

John 20:"**21Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you."And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 if you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

Jesus was speaking here to His Apostles who following His Command, founded the RCC. He gave this august power to only the Apostles, Popes, Bishops and Catholic Priest.

Our Blessed Lord, instituted the Catholic Sacrament of Knowen Forgiveness! The Sacrament of Reconcillation.

And it is God Himself (and only God who can forgive sins) who out love for us has given us the means of remving the guilt burden of sin. Not just guessing that we have been forgiven but with certitude, knowing that we have Confessed to one of His Catholic priest or bishops, who act THROUGH and WITH Christ, give “absolution”, and after we fullfill our Penance, we KNOW, we KNOW that our sins have been forgiven.

If you are not a Catholic, your only hoping and guessing! My friend that is not an accussation, sadly, its a fact.👍

That is 'The Words of God!"

Love, peace, and prayers,

Ok, so I’m misguided. I still want to know how to become a Christian, because I may want to share my faith with others. Please share with me how I can bring others to become a Christian.

So you are saying that all those priests and pastors who definitely “received the knowledge of the truth” and sinned, are in hell. I’m sure those priests were counting on purgatory. Who knows what the protestant pastors were thinking.
No, they are not necessarily in hell. IF they sin mortally, then they are in a state of spiritual death unless they repent before death.

The Holy Spirit leaves their souls when they sin mortally because they defile their temples (souls) and the Holy Spirit can not live within them. They no longer have sanctifying grace. (1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

Our souls have to be in a state of sanctifying grace at death in order for us to inherit eternal life. We must be “in Christ” literally. (Christ/Holy Spirit must be living “within” us at the time of our deaths in order for us to inherit eternal life.)

Sinners can repent any time until their deaths and be forgiven their mortal (grievous) sins. (Ezekiel 33:8-19)

If they sin venally and do not repent before death, then they are in purgatory until full payment is made for their sins. (1 Corinthians 3:15)

[SIGN]“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)[/SIGN]

This verse clearly implies that there are many that would try to pluck them from Jesus’ hand - like sin, or the world, or Satan, or evil wolves in sheep’s clothing - but none will be able to do so.

Implicit in this verse is the knowledge that Jesus is God, and therefore is Omnipotent - who could ever snatch them from His hand? The very thought is ridiculous.
They never ever get into God’s hand unless they are going to be saved in the end. Whether they get into God’s hand depends on their own free will choices which were known by God’s foreknowledge. In other words, God only put those persons into His hand whom He knew would endure to the end of their lives in sanctifying grace.

See members.cox.net/studyhisword/EternalSecurity.pdf and ]members.cox.net/studyhisword/SeparateUsFromGod.pdf for more Scripture Study on these topics.

Oh my friend God has something to say about this; listen to the Word and take heed.

Romans 9:14-24
14 What shall we say then? There is no injustice with God, is there? May it never be! 15 For He says to Moses, “I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I HAVE COMPASSION.” 16 So then it {does} not {depend} on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “FOR THIS VERY PURPOSE I RAISED YOU UP, TO DEMONSTRATE MY POWER IN YOU, AND THAT MY NAME MIGHT BE PROCLAIMED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE EARTH.” 18 So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires. 19 You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?” 20 On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, “Why did you make me like this,” will it? 21 Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use? 22 What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience **vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? **23 And {He did so} to make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, 24 {even} us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles.

God’s creation is not for all, but whom He wills. n I would suggest you run to the confessional for basically calling God something He is not.
Paul is simply stating that we are not to question God’s sovereignty and justice. Notice he says “WHAT IF.”

God is Just and He condemns no man unless that man willfully defies God by sinning. “Hardens” is a way of saying that God chooses to let Pharaoh continue to willfully sin without immediate Divine retribution. He does not force Pharaoh to sin. God chose to favor the Israelites with His mercy. They were also guilty but received God’s mercy.

We have no right to question God’s choice as to whom He bestows mercy on and whom He does not. But, we do know that God is Love and God is Just. God knew every action of ours before we were born in His Foreknowledge and His plans were made according to this foreknowledge. (1 Peter 1:2, Romans 11:2, Romans 8:29)

Blessings to you.

Hell was created to send all men there, but God, in His infinite mercy, has created a way of escape to all those who turn to Jesus.
Matthew 25:41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:”

Hell was created for the devil and his angel followers. However, all men who do not know God, (those who refuse to know Him by their own free will choice) and those who do not obey His gospel (commandments) will also end up there. 2 Thessalonians 1:8 “in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Blessings to you,

BTW, this was most definitely not originally posted by fhansen.

Well, I prefer to accept the Biblical understanding which is that God already knew that Adam would sin, and had provided an acceptable sacrifice in the form of His own Son. The proof that He knew that Adam would sin is found in Ephesians 1:4 [SIGN]“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love”[/SIGN] and also in I Peter 1:20, [SIGN]“Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you”[/SIGN]
I agree. Before Creation happened, God foreknew that IF and WHEN He created MANKIND, then Adam would sin and the gates of heaven would be closed against him because of this one sin (Original Sin) and that his sin would also alienate all of his progeny from God. We would all become God’s enemies (Romans 5) by Adam’s sin and He knew that we would need a savior in order to be reconciled with Him and also so that we could inherit eternal life after our deaths and so He provided His own Son to be our savior. (1 Peter 1:18-21)

Blessings to you,
SHW
