I just don’t understand why ? I understand why would st Joseph be patron saint of all engineers generally …but why would st. Benedict be patron saint of civil ones ?

and please tell me if he is patron saint of anything else

I don’t know if this is why, but I’ve heard a story that St. Benedict’s monks kept trying to build their monastery, but the devil kept knocking their walls down. Finally St. Benedict chased the devil off, and then the monks could build. Civil engineers deal with structures and buildings, so possibly that is the answer.

I think it has something to do with how he basically helped civilize the pagan western world through the spread of his monasteries.
