Why Is Suicide Considered Wrong?

You really need to understand that despair is not an excuse for sin. As long as you still have the presence of mind to realize what you are doing, you are culpable.
We are going to have to agree to disagree. I don’t believe for a minute that someone in despair has to “make excuses” to anyone; the compassion of God is there waiting to embrace them.
 
I am bipolar and have attempted suicide a few times. I grew up in the Catholic Church so I know that i am going to hell. And I do not care because I do not know why God created me this way.
 
At the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC, I was watching an interview with a survivor, talking about the subject of suicide in the concentration camps. Her phrase stuck with me, “Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.”
