Why is the birth of Mother Mary not mentioned in the Holy Bible (66 books?)

It depends which orthodox church your talking about with numbers of books.The OCA would accept 12 and others 14 and 18 and 21.

The Orthodox Church of America accepts the 49 books of the Old Testament, not 12, not 14, not 18 nor 21. I attend the OCA Church on occasion and now for a fact that they have and use the 49 books of the Old Testament. They even sell or give the Orthodox Study Bible to inquires - depending on the inquires financial resources.

The orthodox have spats among them selves all the time,Why else would you hve three diffrent russian orthodox bodies?

It’s a temporary result of Communism, over time each will be united again. And I believe 2 already are, only 1 left to go.

What fighting? I’ve been an Orthodox Christian and/or attending various Orthodox Churches for about 13 yrs, I’ve seen No fighting among the Orthodox jurisdictions in the U.S. What I have found is complete unity of Liturgy, teachings andd belief.

When I was a Catholic, two parishes within the same Rite had different Liturgy, different teachings and different believe - within the Same Rite. And visiting other Rites w/in the Catholic Church brought even more division re: Liturgy, teachings and belief.

Also dont forget the old believers and the Oriental Orthodox Churches some of which are in coummioun with the catholic church(coptics to some degree)

You should know already, but in case you don’t, The Oriental Orthodox left the unity of the Church after the Council of Chalcedon because they belief that Jesus has only One Nature; while the Church has always taught and continues to teach that Jesus has Two distinct Natures: Human and Divine. Now you may want to ask yourself “why”, why has the Catholic Church accepted unity “communion” with a group, namely Coptic Catholics, who belief something so different about Who Jesus Christ is?! Not to mention that their belief was officially condemned by the Church prior to the split between Orthodoxy and Rome.

There is no official doctrine of the Catholic Church which states that Mary’s conception and birth happened to an OLD couple. Some CHOOSE to believe that, but it’s not a doctrine. The only doctrine of the Church in RE Mary’s birth is that at the moment of her conception the redeeming power of Christ’s crucifixion was applied to her (God knows no time) and that she was conceived without the taint of original sin…

The Eastern Catholic Churches I was a member of prior to converting to Orthodoxy whole-heartedly disagree with your statement. They not only teach the events surrounding Mary’s Conception (her parents being an elderly infertile couple for one), it a part of the Liturgy. “We believe what we pray and we pray the Liturgy. That’s where we find our doctrine, in the Liturgies. Divine Liturgy, Liturgy of the Hours.” is what one Eastern Catholic priest always said. As the years have passed, he has been highly elevated in rank his Eastern Catholic Church.

IMO - Mary doesn’t come on the biblical scene until AFTER her birth; therefore, it wasn’t necessary to give the details about her birth. The OT prophesies simply say that a virgin will conceive. That virgin is Mary. The OT prophecies do not speak in any prophetic way about the mother of the redeemer; it is wasn’t on the radar of the writers of the NT gospels to be alert to anything concerning Mary. This was revealed AT THE PROPER TIME; when the person of Jesus Christ was in greater need of understanding.

ALSO – never forget that the scriptures were NEVER INTENDED to be the complete deposit of faith that Jesus gave the apostles.

Exactly MonFrere, NO Where in Tradition: written Sacred Scripture nor in oral tradition is it recorded that Jesus ever said, “Now be sure to write this down!” But it is recorded that Jesus told the Apostles to preach to all nations - Preaching is…Speaking! Of course, I for one, am happy that ever though they were not instructed to the earliest Christians Did write down some of what Jesus said and did.
