Shaquille O’Neal, George Washington, and Mozart are said to be Freemasons. See this list for other famous or influential members: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Freemasons_(A%E2%80%93D
The Masons supposedly believe in a supreme being although they are forbidden to talk about religion (or politics). They also are said to hold righteous virtues like Catholics, such as love, humanitarianism, and respect towards all. It’s also worth noting that Jews seem to be free to join the Masons, although, at one time in history, they could not be accepted as members. Also interesting. Hitler was against them and many were killed along Jews in the concentration camps. The Soviet Union were also against them, and many were persecuted. With these facts in mind, I would think that the Church tolerate them, but instead, we are strongly opposed to them, and any Catholic who becomes affiliated with them are permanently excommunicated!
I personally would never take part in any Masonic activity, but from what I read about them, I would hold them in high regard.
Are they more of a threat to the Church than say Hindus and Buddhists?
