why is the Catholic Church the only one that has a "service" every day?

Most catholic churches don’t have bible studies though.

Actually there is one at every Mass… the readings (same in every one of the 350,000+ Masses said each day somewhere in the world) are chosen to instruct.

Granted, the time is shorter than at a formal Bible Study. But in the last few decades, we have seen the increase of problems and misunderstanding which stem from those outside the Church mis-interpreting our Book. And the response, slow as it is, has been an increase in Bible Studies. So look out;)

Bias? 😛

Perhaps one would use that to describe my adherence to my Faith as I would term your adherence to your beliefs, to wit:

As like my methodist church too… one Lord, one faith, one baptism…

You mean the five thousand that he fed? That is nothing at all about the Eucharist!

On the contrary… Perhaps you have not been introduced to the relationship between the feeding of the 5000, John 6 35ff, and Mark 6 ??

Thank you.

U B welcome

Grrr......!
:rolleyes::cool:😃

I wouldn’t do that… or would I? 😉

Please don’t. The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Catholic Faith, not to be taken by anyone outside the unity of the Catholic Church.

Noob!

Couldn’t the ministers do a 7am service and then go to work?

If the membership thinks that a service is at all special, a special kind of worship, why wouldn’t they want to offer that daily? (The service (Mass) is offered to God, not the membership.)

The daily Mass is offered every day, even if no one is there but the priest.
In Los Angeles he can’t even if he lived in a parsonage next to the church. To get around traffic and commutes many of us are on the road before 6. Consider the congregation in urban settings often go to their favorite church. Not the nearest church of denomination X. In rural settings the same distance/population factors exist. Their average speed on the road is just higher.

I haven’t noticed, but maybe it takes time for these things to spread around the world?

Ah, contrary to that, I already have been introduced to them. But I just put the interpretation down to heresy!

And what if I did? Lol - I’m just kidding!
In my pairsh (while our priest was on holiday) we had a Polish priest to replace him and he nearly gave me the host! I was so tempted to take it… but I didn’t. I though that it would spoil the satisfaction of the first time when I (if I ) ever get comfirmed!

But I am in unity with it! At least in body, if not in spirit!

There has been bible study offered in every parish I have ever been to. My church offers it twice a week…

Interesting. I have many many relatives who live in Los Angeles and the greater Los Angeles area. Lots of them attend daily Mass. Surely you do not mean to imply that Catholics do not experience the same commute and traffic issues…

I think that if daily services were important to non-Catholic Christians, they would make room for it in their day. They would budget for the extra utilities. They would have the support they needed. Where there is a will there is a way, right? With God, all things are possible! The simple truth is that daily services are not offered where they are not wanted or needed. For whatever reason, non-Catholic Christians do not think that daily services are important.

True as I said in my first post there is an emphasis on the personnel relationship without the ongoing need for sacraments/rituals on church designated hallowed ground. From that basic difference in points of view colors how we allocate our time and resources

I can understand that. Not uncommon if one misunderstands the criteria for a heresy.
For now… what was it that astounded the Apostles in Mark 6? Was it Christ walking on the water? Was it His command over the elements?

And what if I did? Lol - I’m just kidding!
Yes, I hope you are kidding, although I try to avoid any sense of humor when discussing the Real Presence.😉

Did you know that the Communion line is NOT a procession line. And, as been discussed on various threads here at CAF, it is NOT a proper time to go forward and received a blessing. You are at a Catholic Mass only as a guest, not a member of the Church.

But I am in unity with it! At least in body, if not in spirit!
All the more reason (not in spirit) to refrain. I actually wonder why you have referred to the Catholic parish as yours?

Be well.

I hear what you say… often. Catholics do have an ongoing need for what Christ gave us. Why else would He give the One Church He founded something they would not need and want to make use of ?

As for a personal relationship… well, I can’t get more personal that receiving what He Himself has declared to be His own Body and Blood… real food.

Many of you, but not all of you. Maybe not the minister. Couldn’t that be part of the deal? The minister has to be able to have a daily service?

The minister may have another job, but shouldn’t his ministry be his first responsibility? Shouldn’t he have to rearrange the hours of his other work to serve God (with a service daily) first?

Again even if a man is in a building the individual church member does not need to be in that building to be with God. The purpose of the weekly service is to fellowship with the church family as much as hearing the Word. Logistically speaking it is hard for a church to meet daily. Surely you are not about to tell me that Monday Mass has the same attendance as Sunday Mass.

How can a Christian think that he doesn’t “need” the sacraments?!
Since when does daily worship in a church preclude a personal relationship with God. Contrary to what’s being claimed here, frequent worship improves a person’s relationship with God. Frequent reception of the Eucharist (even if yours is understood to be only a symbol) benefits a Christian. Is spending money on a latte in the AM a better use of a Christian’s money than donating it to his church so the minister can conduct a daily service?

And, if a Christian doesn’t have an “ongoing need” for the sacraments and rituals in a church setting, why have them weekly even? Why not only on Easter?

My spouse just suggested that you have your daily service at Starbucks. 😉

Where is God in your idea of what a service is for?

Jokes of course! 😃
Real prsence? Well, it depends if you believe in it or not!

.

Wel excuse me, but what does this mean?
And, as been discussed on various threads here at CAF, it is NOT a proper time to go forward and received a blessing.
Regardless of what you say, it was my priest who instructed me to go up at communion to recieve a blessing. But if you want to be hostile towards me then go ahead.
You are at a Catholic Mass only as a guest, not a member of the Church.
Your perception is a very cold one…
All the more reason (not in spirit) to refrain. I actually wonder why you have referred to the Catholic parish as yours?
The church is mine.
Was it not the Holy Spirit that guided me to it?
Hmm… I wonder if you mean that.

This is true. We read in Scripture how many did not believe, and instead walked away. Jesus had already been very clear - 4 times - as to what He meant. When they walked away, He let them. This is hardly something He would do over a symbol or a parable, or something which we could do without if we chose to.

Wel excuse me, but what does this mean?
Exactly that… the Communion line is meant for those who approach the altar to receive the Real Presence. Other expressions of faith, praise, glory, have their particular spots in the Mass.

Regardless of what you say, it was my priest who instructed me to go up at communion to recieve a blessing. But if you want to be hostile towards me then go ahead.
Then perhaps either “your” priest was misunderstood, or he is in error. Even during the early days of the Church, those who were not yet in the Church, had to leave after the Liturgy of the Word, and before the Liturgy of the Eucharist. None were invited to stay and be blessed.

Your perception is a very cold one…
To refer to you as a guest?? If you are not a member of the Catholic Church, and have yet to committ fully to the Church, I would think that “guest” is quite warm, quite explanatory, and quite fair. To assume membership is just not acceptable, because you can not yet enjoy the many privileges of the Catholic Church.

The church is mine. If you have a triune Baptism, then yes, you are a member of the body of Christ. But you are not able to partake of all the other gifts He has intended for HIS Church.
Was it not the Holy Spirit that guided me to it?
Perhaps the Holy Spirit IS guiding you to the Catholic Church. Guiding you to it !! Not equating you with others already home in the Catholic Church. The Holy Spirit is NOT a God of division. So when the many thousands of faith communities all claim to be guided by the Holy Spirit, perhaps they should use your words and consider that the Holy Spirit may be guiding them to the only Church founded by Jesus… and they are at best on a path in that direction.

Hmm… I wonder if you mean that.

Of course it does not. We are instructed to keep holy the Lord’s Day.

But we are also instructed to serve Him with our whole mind, body and strength.

Daily (or nightly) Mass is good for the soul.

Hostility! Aw, I can feel your fire from here!

P.S You aint gonna stop me from going up at communion, you’re just being plain nasty there. It is NOT the norm to leave before communion…

I have a friend in Australia and he has the church keys! He can go in when ever he likes! I am so envious…
