why is the Catholic Church the only one that has a "service" every day?

Hostility! Aw, I can feel your fire from here!

P.S You aint gonna stop me from going up at communion, you’re just being plain nasty there. It is NOT the norm to leave before communion…
If you have not seen these other threads here at CAF, I encourage you to look them over. They discuss, civilly, both points of view. Give them an honest read.

Additionally, I hope you see that a Catholic generally understands the Faith, and the norms of the faith more than most non-Catholics.

Hmm… do I hear a fly buzzing?

That is a great question. I would guess that it would be something to do with the catechism (sp?), involving making sure you get at least one day a week off of work to celebrate (especially if it can’t be Sunday). I’m not sure if that’s true though, so don’t quote me on that one.
the sun Mass is different from the daily ones… not by much… & that’s just my opinion…

it’s just as much a Mass on weekdays as on Sunday but… i believe people are obligated to go to Mass on either Sun or Sat night… regardless of whether they went , say, all during the wk…

but… could be wrong…
***anyone know the answer to this??? ***

.

***with the cost of heating and cooling the Church, I’d say the Church loses money by having daily Mass… ***

There are no collections during week day masses…only on Sundays.

I think that there are daily masses because Jesus is present in the church daily. Most non-catholic church sevices depend on preaching and community. The Catholic mass (service) just needs a priest. It can be just you/me & Jesus or a whole crowd…it’s the same…Jesus is present in the Eucharist and anyone can be close to him by receiving every day. Kinda of like a man & woman deciding to get married because they want to be with each other every day not just on Sundays or date night.
😃

good analogy… 🙂

They have the “candle things” at my church, but you can light one at any time–it’s not limited to before or after Mass.

This is an interesting question, though. Why don’t other Christian churches have a service every day? I think some Baptist denominations have 2 meetings a week - Sunday and Wednesday, I think.

Can anyone tell us why their non-Catholic Christian church doesn’t meet daily?
$$

🤷

y. But I often wonder why the church is open on weekdays at the exact time that most normal people would actually be at work! 9:00am.
working out our salvation w/ fear and trembling (Phil 2;12) is obviously more important than working out our $$$ situation…
I
My Methodist Church;
Sunday; normal service (not called mass). 9:00am & again at 6:30pm
Tuesday; Bible study 7:30pm
Thurday; Alpha course. 7:30pm
Friday; Mens Discipleship 8:00pm
Saturday; Womens Discipleship 8:00pm
There is also football classes and acting classing some where in there. 😃
Any more questions?
xxXx zundrah xXxx
those daily or almost daily activities are NOT focused on Jesus Christ and if they are they are not available to all… (Men’s Discipleship…etc)

so… uh … nice try…

Not the church I go to daily. The place is cold and dark. Never seems to have heating or lighting on.

😃

It does add to the effect of the candles burning though, which adds to the atmosphere.

Im glad the church near me opens every day - it allows me to spend some quiet time before the Tabernacle.

Saturdays they have Exposition (is that the right word?). It’s sad to see only a handful of people ever there for this; it’s right after saturday morning mass and confessions.

I count on average about 15 people every week.

The parish has population of more than 50,000 catholics and 5 catholic churchs.

Nothing anywhere close to that number attends mass on Sundays, or any other day of the week for that matter 😦

***Typical making of accusations against the Church when you don’t know what you’re talking about. They don’t have a daily collection. Why do people think its okay to make charges against the Church when they have obviously never even attended a daily mass…this is how careless lies get perpetrated. ***I can just see it in the latest Chick tract…money from daily mass is used towards building a sound proof chamber to house all the Protestants in when the Pope takes over the world.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

loved this one… 🙂

In my parish the population weekly goes from 600 to 800 people an average. Not too bad, huh?

My methodist church is about 100 people weekly! 😃

Remember the differences in theology. By focus the Catholic is saying Christ actual body and blood with a guardian in the form of a Priest given his office by a Bishop with valid apolistic succession. Protestants start with a different mindset with less emphasis on the authority of the organization, the Church.

Consider as the church strays further from Catholic style worship the factors which come into play. Protestants take their personal relationship with Jesus seriously, they see less need for an interccesor.

As we take things directly to the cross with less sacraments or rituals we have no need for things to take place on church disignated hallowed ground.

Our ministers and elders are for the most part married and must work to support their families. Even with full time clergy church finances come into play. To turn on a heater/AC and the lights cost a huge buck. First the embership doesn’t see the need to be specifically at the disignated building add in the cost you don’t budget for the few who are not working but want to hang around the sanctuary.

Those Wednesday services tend not to be “services” but rather Bible study classes with more question and awnser and less hallelujahs and amens. Sometimes junior members of, or stripped down praise teams led some praise and worship first.
being Catholic (truly Catholic) means being something totally unique in the world…

We (true) Catholics are totally different creatures from anyone else… spiritually

this is not some kind of brag… It is a very profound truth…

there is NO comparison between Protestant and CAtholic persons… they are Two totally different “creatures”…

and again, i am not indulging here in triumphalism… I am simply stating a cold hard fact…

I have been nominally Catholic… i have been born-again (which happened before i ever stepped foot in a non-Catholic church - WAY before)… i have been outside the Chruch, i have been inside… i have been uncatechized and catechized…

i know what i am talking about.

Most catholic churches don’t have bible studies though.

Noob!
we don’t need Bible studies, per se, if we attend Mass every day… if you do that for 3 years you will hear the entire bible and the priest’s comments on it. The priest has studied theology and all kidns of other things… He has 8 yrs worth of higher education and seminary… can’t say taht for all protestant ministers…

this is the absolute BEST Bible study known to man…

but then… of course it is…

it is brought to you by that ONe true Church Christ established… 🙂

i hope you become a member… I feel Jesus is calling you or you wouldn’t be here @ CAF…

No… Scratch that… I KNOW he is calling you…
