I ask this as im confused why the mark of the beast will be an unforgivable sin?
I wonder because Jesus said the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the holy spirit, and Jesus never mentioned the mark of the beast… Jesus made that clear

There has been much debate on this subject. Im no theologian, but it is reasonable to believe that in order to have this “mark” (whatever it is) that it is assumed you deny the one Faith in Jesus. Therefore, unforgivable since it marks you as belonging to the forces of evil and not God. (I.E. denying the Holy Spirit).

This is just one of many different guesses.

But Peter did it out of fear. (Which is still not good). Also, Jesus is not the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is given to us at Baptism. It/He is our “mark” as a Catholic/Christian.

Jesus Himself makes that destinction.

So anyone who denies christ after baptism is not forgiven?

I can only speculate as one who loves God.

However, if you deny the Faith, and deny it fervently, you cannot be saved, because you will not be Baptized. You can also rebuke your Baptism of your own free will… Which means you have no inclusion in Christ’s Atonement.

If you deny Christ, that is a grave sin. Jesus says He will deny us before the Father if we deny Him. But, you can repent of that, just as Peter did. Peter still believed in Christ when he denied Him. But his faith was weak.

But if Peter had denied the Spirit, he would always deny Christ because no faith would be in him.

but why is it unforgivable and Jesus did not mention it to his apostles?

but Peter denied christ and was forgiven?
Saint Peter denied Lord indeed, but he immediately regretted it and wanted to come back to Jesus since then (race with St. John to the Holy Sepulchre).

Mark of the Beast will be a symbol of full denial of God’s will and grace for all time and irrevocably, it will be complete rejection of his will in every act in life and full surrender of ones soul to the Beast. With full knowledge of this action. This is not quite the same?

I haven’t heard this before. Could you please elaborate on why you think the mark is an unforgivable sin? Maybe provide a source for this claim?

I haven’t heard this before.
He’s right though, Mark of the Beast can be identified as unforgivable sin (we’re not sure if it can be removed, we don’t know much) because it is written that all bearers of the mark will end up in the Lake of Fire with Satan and the Beast themselves.

Which is what happens to all who die in the state of mortal sin, a kind of “bearing the mark of the beast” at the moment of death.

Revelation is not limited to a single interpretation. The Mark of the Beast can be many things and can apply to our own state of life; it can have a meaning that belongs to the first century (apostasy in the face of Roman persecution), or to the end times.

Those to are judged with the mark of the beast, whatever that is, are condemned. There is no mention of those who have tried to repent, or that such a mark can be removed, but that in itself does not exclude the possibility. Jumping to the conclusion of “unforgivable sin” is just that: jumping to conclusions.

@WillC also:
EDIT: Sorry bad quote first, now I’ve found the proper one:
[Rev 20:4] And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Then shouldn’t you be able to cite the chapter and verse to us?
Revelations 14:9-10
That’s right.

That does not imply an unforgivable sin. It may, but that is not firm.

That’s no less true for those of us in the wayfaring state. Every time we incur mortal sin, we take on a kind of “mark of the beast”, a stain of mortal sin that excludes us from heaven. But what definitively excludes us is that stain of mortal sin at the moment of death.

There is nothing in Revelation that implies, one way or the other, that people could not repent from acquiring whatever the mark of the beast is. What is definitively stated is that those who are found with it at the time of the judgement are condemned.

@porthos11

I think nothing implies that you won’t be able to remove it, and beg for forgiveness (there’s no boundaries to Lord’s Mercy). But I think it will be, as I written previously — a very conscious act, there won’t be some ‘accidental’ receiving the Mark (like many conspiracy guys sometimes think), thus it’ll be certainly a grave sin. Probably not unforgivable.

But we don’t know. All is speculations.
