Why is the Protestant church the Most Devided Movement in religious history? Did Jesus Christ want this?

Protestants how do you answer this:

Protestants have always made much of the Bible, but acceptance of its authority HAS NOT LED TO UNANIMITY among them.

Differing interpretations of the same Bible have produced the most divided movement of any in the great world religions, as hundreds of sects in at least a dozen great Protestant families of churches (Anglicanism, Congregationalism, Methodism, Presbyterianism, Lutheranism, the Baptist churches, and the like) compete in free societies. Attitudes toward the Bible in contemporary Protestantism range from belief in its literal truth on the fundamentalist end of the spectrum (Fundamentalism) to extremely free interpretations among liberal Protestants.

With the above being True as history shows, did Jesus Christ want this to be?

Is Jesus Christ a God that brings confusion, or order to His Church?

If you answered “ORDER” to His CHURCH Then you are Correct. With that being said, then we know that the Protestant church with its confusion/different bible interpretation of the SAME BIBLE is not what Jesus Christ Had in mind for His One True CHURCH founded on ROCK.

Did Jesus built His Church on Rock or sand?

(Matthew 7:26-27). but everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a stupid man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, floods rose, gales blew and struck that house, and it fell; and and what a fall it had.

History shows not ME that the Protestant Chruches built their House/church on SAND this is the reason it has fallen apart into1000’s of diferent sects with different interpretations of the same Bible, but acceptance of its authority HAS NOT LED TO UNANIMITY among them.

It all depends on how you look at it. The Eastern Orthorodox groups, and the RCC and Anglicans and then Protestantism all broke off of the the Christian Church, so they would all be included in your proposition.

Of course depending on which one one belongs to, one would argue that all others broke off of the stem and they remained faithful or were restored to faithfulness.

I guess I go with who did God use to compile the books of his Holy Word? If he trusted that group of people, why shouldn’t I?

You mean the Jews?

The Jews compiled more of the canon than did the Catholic Church and most all other Christian denominations think that the RCC got the canon wrong.

Besides which, can you prove that God used the RCC to compile anything? You have faith that he did but I doubt you have any proof that he agrees with the RCCs canon. Do you? Have any proof?

He wants to fight.

If he wanted a Protestant response, rather than doing all this ticka-ticka-typing, he could have taken the time to check the archive for any of the 700 times we’ve answered this.

The answer isn’t going to change, your not liking it doesn’t mean asking again will get you the response you want, which is, apparently, “Yes, you’re right, we’re sorry, we promise not to do it anymore.”

Excellent job, Steadfast. Too bad that it won’t be paid attention to. Some people just like to re-hash old stuff just to open old wounds. I’m not sure, though, why Jimmy didn’t respond. It seems like his kind of thread.

Coming from the Catholic church I would argue that there is just as much division in the Catholic church. There are plenty of Catholics who do not agree with all Catholic doctrine nor are they even aware of most of it. This is a senseless question as no response will ever satisfy your desire for an answer. The tone of your question alone implies that you are not really asking a question, but are being more critical of the Protestant movement.

👍 Which is one reason to ignore their claims - they can all prove (to their own satisfaction, but seldom to anyone’s who does not belong to them) that they alone are “the True Church”. It is Christianity that is divided: Catholics don’t agree, because they are satisfied of the unique rightness of the Catholic group over against all others; Orthodox & others likewise for their groups. It is completely artificial to exempt one’s own group from the fragmented state of Christianity.​

No one group can stand aloof from all others, looking down its nose at them: to do so, shows how unChristian such a group is: if God Himself does not stand aloof from men, still less can any group that claims to be Christian: Christian life involves getting filthy, not looking on in safe cleanliness from the sidelines. If God is not above submerging Himself in the cess-pit of humanity, neither can the Church be. We are all in this cess-pool - none of us is outside it; we should be helping each other, not rejoicing at each others sins because they divert attention from our own. Christianity is not Christian, but devilish, when Churches gloat over each other’s sins. That is to comfort the Devil, for such a spirit is his, & not God’s 😦

The catholic movement evolved out the Jesus movement. The the catholic movement evolved into orthodox Christian movement/church, then the RCC broke off of the Orthodox Church, then the Protestant movement tried to reform the corruption that had crept into the RCC but had to do so by breaking off of the same branch that the had started by breaking off of the Orthodox Church.

Then give me a century, an era, anything I don’t care. I want to know when you believe the Church stop being “the Jesus movement” and become the “Catholic movement”

I originally posted this on another thread and think that it is also applicable to this one as it also deals with the development of a number of churches/denominations.

*I think the reason for so many demonations is human nature and the fact that people see and understand things differently. Also people have different priorities in what they want/need in a church/denomination and each of us has a unique personality.

At the risk of offending some people, and I do not intend this, I think it is rather like other areas where there are a range of options eg sport, art, hobbies where some people prefer one rather than the other. Sometimes we can’t say why we prefer one sport over another other times we can.

Some people will choose a denomination/church whose theology reflects their own, others will choose it because they like the way the theology is expressed both in the form of servcies or because of the works the church is involved in. Some people want to be part of a church/denimination where they are encouraged to develop their own understandings, others will consider this to be irrelevant or even wrong.

Think also our answers to this question probably tell us more about the person posting rather than the reasons for their being so many churches/denominations.*
