Why is the word “catholic” not capitalized in the (Nicene) Creed?
I know that in the new translation introduced last Advent it is not.
I had thought it was capitalized in the EF, but when I checked my missal “Catholic” was only capitalized on the English side.
I had always thought (since my conversion at least) that we were professing belief in the Church instituted by Jesus Christ himself.
Your thoughts please.

This suggests to me that we are only professing belief in the “church” as in the protestant belief that the church consists of all believers.Et unam, sanctam, catholicam et apostolicam Ecclesiam. And in one holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
