Let me answer that backwards. I do not think that removing God from the money means anything about the faith of the nation. God was not on there for most of the history of the country, and we were more “devout” then. It was added as a knee-jerk response to Communism, and as many people thought it was a part of Communism, atheism. That said, many people, some of which are on this forum would see it as failing to worship God properly. As I have posted before, based on the types of people we have in government, I’d rather not have them carrying the banner of the Faith. If you say that an image is God is it likely to be worshiped as God? Why do people think if you take that motto off the money it means that we aren’t worshiping God properly in the country?
Just because an image is of God does not mean it will be worshiped. It may foster a better devotion or aid in visualising for prayer, meditation, or study. If a married person has a picture of their spouse, do they have the same feelings for the picture as they do the spouse? Not at all. Do they treat the two the same way? Nope. Even if the person says that they “love the picure” it does not mean that they consider the picture the same as the spouse: it means that the picuture is connected with the thoughts and memories that they have and is therefor special
