Why is there no longer a reference to original sin?

The current liturgical prayers for Mass on the feast of the Immaculate Conception avoid the use of the words “original sin”. Pre-Vatican II Masses included several references to original sin. Our priest did not mention original sin in his homily, either.

Why is there no longer a reference to original sin?
 
Dear U,

I just checked the Sacramentary and the opening prayer refers to Mary as being sinless from the moment of her conception. This certainly is what her being free from original sin is. If there were no mention of this reality, there would indeed be reason for concern.
