Why is there no record of the Assumption, and how could Mary have died first?

I have heard that we Catholics are free to believe that either Mary died and then was assumed, or never died and went up like Elijah. Now, I would think that if people saw her body floating up to heaven or saw her suddenly dematerialize that they would want to write this down. So this makes me think that she died first, was buried, and was suddenly in Heaven without anyone noticing. But, I thought that she didn’t die because she was Immaculately Conceived, and that death is the separation of body and soul, due to Original Sin. 🤷 Finally, why has no one found Mary’s grave? Could I have some help please?
